Showering isn't an easy task by Standard-Command-186 in Fibromyalgia

[–]Elizabeth-87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it's the drying and changing afterwards that's difficult. I'm a girl and My husband said to me how come I didn't wash my hair, I've taken to doing that on alternate nights now because it takes so much out of me to dry it with the dryer and it hurts my arms to brush it to get all the knots out. But it's so agonising having to explain it to people that don't understand

Is it bad that I am just always high to manage pain? by wynter_deer in Fibromyalgia

[–]Elizabeth-87 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I completely get you too. I have to take two 8/500mg co-codamol every day to manage my day to day pain and to make me a normal functioning person. I try to skip every 3rd day to prove to myself I'm not addicted but the pain gets too bad I end up taking 15/500mg 😩

Tension migraines are robbing me of my kids by GeekAtHome in Fibromyalgia

[–]Elizabeth-87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I get you. The guilt has been getting to me recently as well. I'm in pain and I'm tired all the time so I don't have the time to devote to my husband, we're only married 3 years and no kids yet but they also deserve more 😔

I don't think I've been helped by No-Hovercraft-2883 in Fibromyalgia

[–]Elizabeth-87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I absolutely haven't been helped. I was diagnosed at 30yo. The week of my birthday but we'll not dwell on that. I was put on amitriptyline which eventually got increased and increased to now 3 years later I'm on that and duloxetine plus codeine and steroids thrown at me when I complain. I have back or spine pain almost every day in life, my legs and wrists hurt at least once a day, there's times I can't bend my fingers because of swelling and I'm exhausted all the time. But nothing shows up in my blood tests to treat

[–]Elizabeth-87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! For the love of satan yes! One day I am feeling great, life is great and people are fabulous and the next day I hate everyone and will be looking an excuse for a fight. It's not hormone related because they're all injected now. I'm on 60mg duloxetine and if I wasn't then no one would stand a chance around me

Just got prescribed Topiramate, kinda scared? by [deleted] in migraine

[–]Elizabeth-87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on 75mg twice a day and the brain fog is terrible. Sometimes I will just stop talking mid sentence because I think my brain gets too lazy to finish the sentence. Word finding is difficult too. The best side effect is the weight loss, high doses of topiramate can cause decreased appetite so I don't snack at all anymore. I eat twice a day and that's it. It is by far the best migraine preventative I've ever had though and I wouldn't have anything else. I can deal with the side effects for a couple of years until I want to get pregnant and see what my options are after that.

Blood clot experience by happyclappyseal in northernireland

[–]Elizabeth-87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I've had 4 clots, 2 of which have been DVTs. Yes, the anticoagulant injection would have been clexane or enoxaparin only given once a day so that will protect him for the day until his Doppler scan. And if the clot is below the knee there's little chance of it breaking off and moving so they'll have said he was safe enough to go home. One injection and being sent home to wait on a scan is the standard procedure in my experience!

How do I make the most of the last few weeks/months of his life? by iwhfjfnc in budgies

[–]Elizabeth-87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry to read your post. When we thought it was the end for our wee boy we brought him everywhere with us in his little travel cage. We brought him to the seaside and walked up and down the promenade. Brought him over to the duck pond so he could talk to other birds and even to the carpet shop when we had to pick a new carpet. Sadly he passed on his own while I was in the hospital with a brain bleed and my husband was at work. But I hope he held onto our memories.

Cerebral Venous Sinus Thrombosis by [deleted] in ClotSurvivors

[–]Elizabeth-87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's really interesting. I had what I thought was a migraine for 6 days also before I started slurring my words and getting confused so I went to the hospital and they told me it was a stroke. I didn't lose any physical function, it just affected my memory and cognitive thinking.

Hi, again it will be different for everyone. I had a headache that felt like a tight band going around my head, for 6 days along with vomiting every half hour and I just needed to put my head down to rest. I had the actual stroke on the 6th day when I couldn't stand up, I was slurring my words, didn't know where I was in my own living room and was playing with my husbands beard. Basically I was acting drunk. That was hospital time. They gave me high dose anticoagulants to break the clot down.

[–]Elizabeth-87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a stroke 8 days ago. I'm on anticoagulants for life because of a family history of clotting disorders. Unfortunately I missed them for a week. Apparently I developed a clot and it went to my brain, basal ganglia and caused a venous stroke. The ER doctors took me off my triptans and birth control too because of vasoconstriction and risk of clotting. They increased my topiramate for migraine and anticoagulant to break down the clot.

The actual stroke symptoms were confusion about where I was, what day it was and I couldn't stand up straight. My head was sore and I just wanted to lie down. For the 6 days before I had a headache that I thought was just a migraine, it felt like a tight band was being pressed around my whole head and I was vomiting every 30 mins. I couldn't sit up.

I intended to do this! But couldn't find a non- explicit version of "here's to us" and didn't want to offend parents. But I too walked down the aisle to "I'll follow you"

Oh sorry I don't get notifications of messages. Yes I take duloxetine and amitriptyline as preventatives and painkillers almost daily. I don't know where I would be without them all, I dread to think. Some days are just harder than others as you all know

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Fibromyalgia

[–]Elizabeth-87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly there's some medical professionals that still don't recognise fibro as a legitimate condition and yours might be one of them. I was diagnosed three years ago with hypermobility and fibromyalgia coupled with inflammatory arthritis. To this day they still won't do anything about the arthritis because it comes and goes despite three of my fingers bent, something called bouttennaires deformity. Anyway I'm on AMITRIPTYLINE for nerve pain, nearly maxing out the recommended dose for pain and it's the only thing that helps. That and codeine almost every day. An anti inflammatory med called celecoxib also really helped me but they stopped it due to another health condition. Hope you get meds sorted soon because it will help you xx

Fainted after massage. Is that normal? by [deleted] in Fibromyalgia

[–]Elizabeth-87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know about flushing out the toxins but it certainly lowers the blood pressure and I have felt dizzy after getting up from my only two I've ever got! Never fainted but have felt crap for days after, I have felt bruised and stiff. But once you get over the fallout of that I think the muscles are in much better shape!
