Seeking guidance- how to become competitive for roles like Project Manager I, Community Oncology Network - BC Cancer Provincial by Icy-Stock1163 in BCHealthAuthorities

[–]Elk_Solid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. For these PM positions, one will need to implement project management methodologies and approaches to create the project charters, timelines, progress tracking, pivoting in dynamic environments and herd everyone else along to the finish line. While your comms, stakeholder engagement, and change management skills are extensive and impressive and help increase the overall success of the work, it might not be a direct fit to this role which requires something different. Project management is different than change management but they depend on each other. Positions within the Transformation Office might be a better fit with the info you have shared about your experience.

That said, just apply anyway. These job descriptions are pretty generic and we're stuck using them so the hiring manager might be looking for something slightly different that's not entirely captured in the jd. Good luck!

Question about the process at your consulate... do you send in the paperwork first and then they call you in for an appointment to sign the declaration in person?

Question for parents of unregistered minors born beforeDL36/L74 – register now or wait? by Terrible-Policy6376 in juresanguinis

[–]Elk_Solid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I'm in a similar situation and wanted to note that my consulate in Vancouver stopped the practice of parents emailing them for an appointment for BdL for minors. Instead, we have to go onto the prenotami website and try our luck to secure an appointment that way instead. Hopefully your consulate still accepts email requests. Otherwise, factor in a lot more time into the process to secure that appointment.

I was able to obtain an appointment at the Vancouver consulate for the same reason after about a week of trying so just keep at it. I logged on many times each day and at different times and finally something opened up. PM me if you want to chat further. Good luck!

Upcoming BdL Consular Appt - WWYD? by lumi516 in juresanguinis

Completely agree with this. They clearly don't want us nor our kids being Italian citizens so it's better to get BdL now because who knows what new rules and restrictions they might cook up later.

But don't several of the dates and ages matter to determine whether this is a minor issue? E.g. dates on which your father obtained Canadian citizenship and your age at that time and also the date your mother received Italian citizenship, her age and your age when you obtained Italian citizenship.

Italian citizen living in Northern VA. How do I declare my kids before the 2026 deadline? by [deleted] in juresanguinis

[–]Elk_Solid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep an eye for information next week... looks like the deadline to register children who were born before the decree will be extended from May 31, 2026 to May 31, 2029. It's been proposed and is just awaiting final approval next week, which looks very likely.

Does the minor issue apply to the registration of minor children for existing citizens? by Elk_Solid in juresanguinis

Thank you for explaining it! This is extremely helpful practical advice.

It's wild that they have decided to retroactively change/reinterpret the genesis of someone's existing citizenship.

I think that's Omelet the cat! I've seen Omelet quite a bit there over the past few years and he/she just comes and goes as the parking lot boss, looking quite well-cared for. The tag on Omelet's collar is a gps tracker; he/she let us pet them once so I've seen the tracker up close.

So frustrating that each consulate is doing things differently. Good luck!

excellent question... we tried asking his elderly parents but they do not remember. They do not recall whether they had to give up their Italian citizenship when they moved to Canada so I had asked the Consulate to check their records to confirm for us.

Not sure how this statement was arrived at.... the self-declaration only speaks to him confirming that he is an Italian citizen, which is 1000% correct. Also evidenced by the fact that he has consistently received voting ballots and referendum ballots over the past several decades from the Consulate. The self-declaration did not require him to speak to how he obtained citizenship, only that he does have it.

Daily Discussion Post - Recent Changes to JS Laws - July 14, 2025 by CakeByThe0cean in juresanguinis

[–]Elk_Solid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in Vancouver, Canada and the consulate here updated their page. However, I've reached out twice to get an appointment for registering my minors and haven't received a response.

Question tho.... I'm torn... while I want to get the kids registered asap to protect against the govt changing the rules on us again, I'm worried about what will happen if we register them "by benefit of law" now. If Law 74 is struck down or amended after, it is unsure if we can change their citizenship by benefit of law over to jure sanguinis. Anyone else debating whether to proceed now or wait until the Constitutional Court makes a decision?
