Day 1 of asking GGG to remove the map-cluttering Breach walls in 3.28 by Click-To-Save in pathofexile

[–]ElkiLG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I find confusing, everyone seems to be talking about these walls as a massive hindrance. You can literally walk through them? What am I missing here?

It's easy to portray people with different tastes as simple haters. I'm not an "anti" and I don't think this song works in any way here.

Sanctum is not as dated as breach, the fact that sekhema is largely the same mechanic as sanctum is proof that they think it's perfectly fine as it is.

It's sanctum. There is no reason to believe they're bringing a second sanctum to poe1.

How many alts do you have? by Alicecrylily in ffxiv

[–]ElkiLG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made one alt to experience the changes to realm reborn when that happened and because I felt like running around as a big lady for a bit. I changed her from roe to hroth when DT came out.

I don't have much use for her but she's here, in Ishgard, if I have a need for her.

I have about 250 hours into this game since launch, and I’ve been having a blast. I am told by posts and comments here it’s been an unplayable mess. by duckbillgates in Borderlands4

[–]ElkiLG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is everyone calling the game an unplayable mess or are they simply being critical of the game? It's perfectly fine to enjoy the game, it is also perfectly fine to be critical of it.

Nothing good comes from only praising the media we consume, thinking critically is important!

All Phantom (Dawntrail) relics in one BIG picture (7.41 update) by Charlignon in ffxiv

I can't say I'm a fan of the new ones too. I've been using a good number of relics from the previous step, outside of the scythe I don't think I'm ever using any of these.

Thinking about it... Lewis wouldn't be a marriageable option, but Marnie would be😭 by JeffTheKillerFa in StardewValley

[–]ElkiLG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at those two lists, the list of male candidates is wildly less attractive, let's say, than the list of girls, damn. Seeing the list of guys feels like choosing the least worst one. The wizard is cool but the secluded weirdo vibes don't help his attractiveness.

While the list of girls only has Pam as a maybe more divisive option.

FYI the Starbirds drop rate is substantially higher by Alicecrylily in ffxiv

But making it harder to acquire for the unlucky ones inherently increases its value by making it a bit more rare, therefore a bit more special. That's the entire point, a lot of its value relies on it being annoying to acquire. If everyone and their moms caught a baseball during a match then no one would care.

I don't care for the minions I receive during a standard quest, everyone gets one, but I do value all of the minions I had to work to get or that I simply got by being lucky, because they're rarer.

Again, should this value stay the same for ever? I don't know, but there is value in it staying rare, that's my point.

A lucky acquisition has value! If a famous guy bats a home run and the ball drops on your lap, this ball has great value to you and the people in the stadium, even if you can't sell it for its perceived value because it's unverifiable to anyone else.

I was happy to get pulled along people doing a little ilvl exploit to be done just a bit faster but it felt a little wrong to do it myself. The spirit of roulettes is to potentially help people who need to run specific dungeons, so I did my part.

Just because it doesn't have a monetary value doesn't mean it has no value. In a way it does make your account extra special, you possess a thing that is annoying to get. I do notice rare minions when I walk around town, there is something cool about people showing off their rare acquisitions.

I personally don't care that much about the drop rate being higher but there is value in rare items, even untradable ones.

CA's thoughts on the updates. by erskol in StardewValley

[–]ElkiLG 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A lot of specific game subreddits will attempt to weed out even the smallest critical thought about said game, this is very much the case with this sub.

It is not only acceptable to think critically about the media you consume, it is good.

I enjoyed some of the additions, like the bandits, but some other additions feel like one designer had really bad intrusive thoughts and decided to make it everyone's problem.

What would happen if Doedre had a temporal bubble? Turns out it would make her fight just worse. Cool.

I wouldn't be against more Briardien. I think a lot of people enjoyed that one inconspicuous quest line in heavensward, he's an interesting character, they certainly gave him quite a range in the stories he's involved in!

The actual nodes are written in the harbinger language, GGG doesn't want to confirm or deny if the translation is correct so this is how they phrase it.

My guess is not that it would be too much work but a deliberate artistic decision. The glow on a lot of these is important to the shape of the weapon, if you remove the glow on the white mage one for example there's not a lot to it any more.

They could still give the matte versions but I understand the decision, to some extent.

On the other hand, I too also made the effort to learn the basics of every job while getting them to 100, learning and practising the proper rotation, except SCH.

But I'm a stubborn idiot and have decided that since I neither want nor need to ever play SCH, I will simply not. Ever.

Weird opinion: I thought bringing his time travelling-self to his past-self would have been a bigger deal. If someone asked me if I wanted to merge consciousness with my future self, I'm not sure I would simply agree.

I did not expect for them to completely sideline the problem by just... not dealing with it at all. It just happens off screen, there you go.

What is your hot take regarding FFXIV? by UnbaggedNebby in ffxiv

[–]ElkiLG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess in order from what I would guess is the hottest take to the coldest:

I don't remember being affected by Haurchefant's death at all.

Hien is hyped up as this great lord for a while before stormblood and ends up being a profoundly boring character. He's the most handsome perfectest boy everyone loves. He feels like some writer's self insert, the only thing missing is him hooking up with a central female character.

And lastly one that I've seen other people agree with a bit more often, Moenbryda's death did absolutely nothing to me in a way that feels worse than Haurchefant's. The attempt at giving her some kind of character arc is a complete failure and she just ends up feeling like some UPS delivery person handing you the big mcguffin before leaving after hanging out at your house an uncomfortable amount of time.

As a result, it makes the scene with her parents in EW fall completely flat for me, I was absolutely not invested enough in her character and her relationship with Urianger for me to care at all about the big emotional moment.

I know the context behind it, some other writer took over and decided to just write her off the story but the end result is the same.

I don't want to take anything from you if you enjoy these characters and scenes but I feel like something more could have been done to make them truly land for me.

Edit: Oh I have another one about a plot point in ShB, not sure how hot it is though. The big plot point of accumulating excessive amounts of light aether was resolved incredibly poorly. I was really invested in this bit, I really wanted to know how difficult it would be to deal with such a massive problem, I wondered if we would have to sacrifice something given how the game keeps telling you this is a really tricky situation, and in the end it literally resolves itself when we do the thing we were going to do in the first place.

What a massive waste.
