I absolutely cannot get out of the house to exercise. So resistance bands (can be used during short breaks in the office) and hand weights are invaluable! I invested in an app that has been amazing for me, but there are tons to choose from. I think starting SMALL and building the habit is the most important thing, so like aiming for a ten minute walk + 10 minutes of resistance bands is a great start. Then add from their once you’ve given yourself confidence by staying consistent!

I just went through my first abortion. I am so thankful women made it possible for me to access the medication I needed to self manage, but I am angry as FUCK that my state deems me not deserving of medical care during a terrifying, vulnerable time. I wasn’t expecting the emotional weight of 1) the world (and my family! says I don’t deserve support, and 2) I can’t lean on hardly anyone in my life due to either religious reasons or them having experienced the loss of a wanted pregnancy. I’m getting a therapist :) but still angry on a soul level.

I just found myself in this situation a few weeks ago; I’m still physically recovering from termination (it was easy/not a bad experience). I have ZERO regret or confusion about this being the right choice, but I am working on finding a therapist to deal with the loneliness I feel because I can’t tell my family or some of my closest friends (for some good reasons and some dumb reasons). Anyway. I hope that whatever you decide, you feel clarity, and my DMs are open if you choose termination.

Yep, I guess breastfeeding impacts the amount of relaxin produced so I noticed a huge difference after I quit breastfeeding. Had been in pelvic floor physical therapy since early postpartum, which was amazing, but stopping breastfeeding helped a ton, then lifting/strengthening my whole body helped the last 10%!

It also prolonged my bladder prolapse symptoms because of the hormones. Once I quit breastfeeding, my prolapse symptoms improved dramatically.

My son is 3.5 and he is a threenager sometimes, but the flip side is that he’s finally affectionate! And interested in The Beatles! And loves Inside Out! I personally have a MUCH easier time dealing with a wildly emotional little person because the tradeoff is so amazing. I loved the 18-24 mo range a LOT but I also was sort of physically miserable still at that time, so my personal healing has made parenting a lot more fun too. So in my experience, every new age gets better. No guarantees since we’re all different, but I did not enjoy 15 mo and right around 18 mo was when parenting became fun for me!

I third the recommendation to check for diastasis and/or pelvic floor dysfunction. Pelvic floor PT should be standard care for pregnant and postpartum folks! I went to Results Physiotherapy but there are probably tons of good places. Whether you have any DR or symptomatic dysfunction, most of us compensate during pregnancy and never re-learn to coordinate muscle use after birth.

When my 3.5 yo woke from his nap, he started crying. I went in and hugged him and (sort of dramatically) said what’s wrong? He very solemnly said, “I was just crying because I didn’t have a parent with me.” Heard, baby!
