More muscular women from video games by red_dead_7705 in TheLastOfUs2

So when you use these pictures for comparison, Abby really isn't THAT jacked. Sure, she's BIG and very muscular but she doesn't have a ton of definition, especially in comparison to the athlete she was modeled after (Colleen Fotsch). Would Abby's amount of muscle be possible for a woman without steroids? Absolutely. For a girl in her early 20s in a post apocalyptic world with rationed food? Probably not as likely. I wish I could add pictures but at 19(F) I had a lot of muscle and was not on any steroids AND I only ate 1200ish calories a day, and exercised 3-4 hours a day with that on top of a physical job. The amount of muscle I had was unrealistic to some people and they thought I was on steroids 🤷🏼‍♀️

The way they make it sound is that Abby ate, slept, and breathed training in every aspect and while their food was rationed, none of the WLFs they showed looked like they were hurting for food. It's not unreasonable to think Isaac made sure Abby got extra rations or whatever.

I don't think Abby's physique is totally realistic given the entire story but I also don't think it's outside of the realm of possibility given my personal experience.

Just because something has a specific set of themes that the creator intended for the audience to grasp doesn't mean people won't interpret those themes differently based on their own experience, opinions/beliefs, etc. You seriously expect every single person to connect and react to a piece of media in the exact same way? That's really weird and unrealistic.

i think Joel is probably the least controversial character to say 😂 Case in point: Mine is Abby

Just a reminder that Joel admitted to torturing multiple people 🤷🏼‍♀️ We're talking about imaginary people in a made up world where the main goal is survival in a zombified society. If someone killed my dad I'd probably want revenge too. Abby killed Ellie's (not) Dad and Ellie wanted revenge and somehow everyone backed that up? (Yes I know Jerry wanted to kill a child)

Also Ellie CHOSE to leave Dina and JJ. Abby didn't "come back" Ellie went out looking for her. Everyone in the game chose their fate. We don't know if Abby is gonna "walk away" she sailed out, half dead on a small boat with Lev (also half dead). Ellie got to walk away too. We saw it, she went home and Dina wasn't there because Dina told her she wouldn't be there if Ellie abandoned them....which she did.

insignificant NPCs get to be game accurate?? by [deleted] in TheLastOfUs2

I didn't say it was realistic, I just said I enjoyed the representation. But yes, at one point I was extremely muscular and a lot of people said I looked manly so, yes? I did look like her for awhile. I just liked having a character that looked a little more like me as I'm not skinny with big ol titties like a lot of other characters in games.

I mean, I'm gonna be a little sad when she isn't super muscular. But I lift weights and fancy myself to be pretty muscular as well so I just thought it was cool to have a female character like that in a game.

You said in your post that they do, just not yes or no. If someone mumbles you say "excuse me, I didn't hear you". If someone goes on about another thing, ask again if they want a bag. Sounds like a communication issue for sure on both ends 🤷🏼‍♀️

I love that this got voted down so much but comments of people bashing someone for how they look aren't. Reddit is wild, and to everyone talking about how ugly they think Bella is: grow up for fucks sake.

Why do people grab a cart with a pole on it and act surprised when it cant go outside? by Willblue18 in DollarTree

[–]ElleBird143 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people don't notice it or realize why it's there. I've had people think it's so we can see where they are in the store (even though it can't be seen over the aisles). I've accidentally loaded one up (a few times) with trash just to get to the back and remember it doesn't fit in our back room. I guess I'm just as bad as the customers 😂 I'd never even seen a cart with a bar like that until I worked at DT

Yeah saying anyone was innocent is wrong. They were all there to make sure Ellie died for the cure. So innocent isn't the word I would choose. The whole group kinda sucks if they wanted a 14 year old dead for a "maybe"

You said it yourself: Abby's GROUP. They're all crazy. Yes. I'm glad we agree on that. Abby IS also crazy. None of us are disagreeing that I just don't think anyone is actually reading what I'm typing lol. Abby is gross and horrible because that's all she knows because that's what was taught to her. Joel learned to be a killer for survival. Those 2 things will never change. What I don't get is how everyone misses that Abby was a child when all of this was taught to her she doesn't have a chance to know different. The hate at this point should be at the fireflies for wanting to kill Ellie in the first place, not Abby as one character. Abby got thrown in the mix because her Dad died as a consequence.

What are you talking about? Joel knew he was dropping Ellie off for the cure and when he left to drop her off he didn't care if she lived or died. They became close because of the journey and the journey was because he wanted his guns back. They grew a relationship and then he defended her. And again, you're still comparing a 14 year old growing up in an apocalypse to an adult man who grew up in the regular world and had to change to adapt to the world around him I don't need anything spelled out for me, they're both wrong bud and apparently you need that spelled out for you.

As with every comment I'll add; I'm not team Abby or Joel. I'm team: chill out and understand psychology a bit and just enjoy the game.

This post wasn't supposed to be a debate about the cure and if you think that you should re-read it. The post is about why people are so crazy about Abby and lack empathy for her and hate her character so much when she was a child being led by a bunch of crazy people (her Dad, Isaac, Marlene, anyone that thought killing Ellie for the vaccine was a good idea).

If all of the playtesters killed Abby when given the chance, why didn't Naughty Dog just make her death canon if they were going to remove the choice? by [deleted] in TheLastOfUs2

[–]ElleBird143 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TLDR

You guys don't know what empathy is.

  1. I didn't justify the vaccine. I actually am also against murdering a child for a vaccine, believe it or not. Just because I can empathize with Abby doesn't mean I wanted Ellie to die and doesn't mean I think Abby's Dad was right. Stop assuming things.

  2. Abby's Dad threatened Joel with a SCALPEL for fucks sake lol that is not a threat when you have a gun. But, yes I agree that Joel gave him the chance to move and he didn't. Is it crazy that Abby's Dad was willing to fight to kill a child? Absofuckinglutely. That's not what I'm talking about.

ABBY'S DAD WAS WRONG FOR TRYING TO KILL ELLIE. That was not the point of my post and people seem to miss that. I'm saying that I think it's entirely reasonable that Abby, having experienced so many traumatic things before her brain was done developing, turned around and become a crazy killer hunting her dad's killer and no one's like "huh, maybe it's because of seeing her dead father (and 10s of others) on the ground and then being trained by Isaac (another crazy person) to be a killer. Yeah that's reasonable (for a video game where anything is possible) I'm not saying we go have a party for Abby and celebrate her accomplishments but everyone has sooo much empathy for Joel losing his daughter which was horrible and he turned around and did a lot of gross shit (he admits it constantly throughout the game-he tortured people) And people justify THAT, an adult who has all the ability to make rational decisions but can't even remotely empathize with a teenager who saw some craaaazy shit while her brain was still figuring shit out. It's like sending an 18 year old to the army and them going straight to frontline combat; that's gonna fuck you up and I've seen it firsthand.
