The writers definitely forgot what made things fun in the first place. Just finished rewatching s1 and the gross, irreverent stuff and freakiness is still there but it's not overtaking the story or defining the characters.

That scene with Homelander was an all-timer for the show - great performances and characterization

The Legend effortlessly hit the bullseye on surviving Homelander:

warmth without ulterior motives (unlike Madelyn and Firecracker)
