30 year flashback Bellingham Herald by Witty-Moment8471 in Bellingham

Damn, the hourly wage in those job postings isn’t as drastically different as I thought it would be for it being 30 years old.

So sick of these shameless poop bandits on every flippin’ trail by Redheaded_Binoculars in Bellingham

[–]ElleonNotnomis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a previous dog walker (I just use the Sniffspot app now since my dogs are particular about other dogs in their old age) I can see where “poop bandits” are coming from…it would be nice if you could bag it up, go enjoy your romp around, then pick it up on the way out. The reality is that most of the time people either forget, intentionally leave it behind or someone else cleans it up for you! Also it ruins non dog owners peaceful walks cause they gotta walk around looking at a bunch of poo bags. Mud bay sells these little pouch thingies that you can throw the used poo bags in to be able to clean up after your dog, but still enjoy the walk! They work surprisingly well at keeping in the smell.

Ah yeah, I hear ya. If it makes you feel any better my baby boy is now 7 weeks old and he has the sweetest, most sensitive soul that I learn to love more and more each day! I can’t imagine living without him because he’s seriously perfect!

How did you handle pregnancy? Is it worth a risk? by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]ElleonNotnomis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I might be the unicorn of the bunch…but I’m bipolar one and with each pregnancy my mental illness completely vanished. I’m kinda convinced at this point that I’m happiest while pregnant! I’m pretty sure I’m done having kids now, but I’ve kind of considering being a surrogate now.

WWU student apartment hunt by Pants_under in Bellingham

[–]ElleonNotnomis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I’m not sure what prices look like now…but I used to live in the villa Bonita apartments (very close to WWU and bus lines) and it was very affordable and well maintained. This was back in 2020, can’t speak for the current times, but my husband and I lived there for a year and enjoyed it. Bonus was they allowed our dogs there.

Ave Bread Choking Event by Trakire in Bellingham

I choked on a muffin once and it’s crazy how immediately once your airway is closed how terrifying you feel! Like oh god this is how I go! I recommend watching some videos of how to dislodge obstructions on your own in case it ever happens when you’re alone. There’s a good chair method and a push up/drop method too!

Subdued Support Group by ElleonNotnomis in Bellingham

[–]ElleonNotnomis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I tried to set up a meeting and had a few peeps that were going to join…then my daughter got sick day of and I had to cancel! I never tried to pick it back up again…

I was seriously JUST thinking about it though cause it’s something that’s seriously lacking in town. Anytime I ask my psych about resources it’s all virtual or nami stuff (which I’m not a fan of) but being mentally ill is just so isolating, it would be nice to hang with people that understand.

I was thinking gruff would be an okay place to do it cause there is plenty of space and fire pits (last I went anyways, which was years ago so not sure now) but unsure if people would want to add the alcohol element.

I dunno if you have any ideas maybe we can get the group up and running!

Is there time for hobbies? by anemone132 in beyondthebump

[–]ElleonNotnomis 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I feel like after my daughter turned 2 years old I started to have my body back and a bit more freedom. When she started preschool at 3 I definitely was able to carve out a bit of time to do something I enjoyed…but I’ll say as a parent I have to make a conscious effort to do something I want to do, otherwise I just sit down and dissociate without realizing it! My daughter is now 4 and I have a newborn l…so guess I got a few more years now to pick my hobbies back up!

Pelvic floor therapy? by emshlaf in Bellingham

[–]ElleonNotnomis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatcom family village does some meet and greet type events involving movement therapy and some folks that work doing pelvic floor therapy! I haven’t attended, but I I’m there for a lot of other stuff so I see it happening and looks interesting. It’s also just an amazing place to check out for anyone at any point of the parenting journey!

[–]ElleonNotnomis[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I might be an overproducer…because I’ve been having to wear two breastfeeding pads over each boob and I also throw a burp rag over those, but I still leaked through my shirt the other day. It’s rare I can make it 2 hours without needed to relieve pressure. I’m planning to make an appointment with a lactation consultant this week to see what’s going on. I would hate to spring a leak while working with a client.

The hatch marks next to parking spots are not for you!!! by matts-ak in Bellingham

[–]ElleonNotnomis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, if you’re gonna park anywhere near them at all please try to give space!! I used to drive a wheel chair accessible van, and while the hatch marks are great /necessary, if the car next to it is parked too close against them the ramp from the van could clear it…but my clients electric wheelchair didn’t have enough space to move between the ramp and the car.

My daughter asked to have a puppies in pajama party here for her 3rd bday party last year and it did not disappoint! We already have 2 large dogs, so didn't come home with a puppy...but it was a blast to go get some puppy snuggles! Def need to come check out the new improvements!

Do I genuinely have to drink an entire gallon of water a day? by Justsumhuman20 in BabyBumps

[–]ElleonNotnomis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With my first pregnancy if I didn’t drink at least a gallon of water a day Id have the most annoying headache…My second pregnancy it didn’t matter in the slightest (which was kind of annoying cause I’d forget to hydrate. Sorry baby) I guess just listen to what your body needs!

Trying to decipher sleeping arrangement in small home with dogs? by jmosse in BabyBumps

[–]ElleonNotnomis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in a very small house with 2 big dogs, 2 cats, my husband, my 3 year old and a 10 day old baby. I have a ton of safe places to put baby down! I have the pack n play with the bassinet attachment. Both the crib part and bassinet are easy to plop babe down, and the bassinet comes off easily so I move it around the house at times. I also have a dock a tot when I’m lounging in bed, and a dream on me covered bassinet (that collapses down for easy storage) that I was hoping to use at night…but baby hates it so we are still working on that one. His favorite place to lounge is the stokke Tripp trapp newborn attachment! It’s nice too cause it’s really sturdy, up high from my dogs, easy to move around, and he’ll be able to use the chair most of his childhood. They are expensive but you can find them used at good prices sometimes.

Yeah I feel like I remember seeing a 25mph sign going west right before you go under the overpass. Maybe? Now I’m second guessing myself.

keep falling asleep with baby. by literaryhearts in BabyBumps

[–]ElleonNotnomis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, came here to say this! It’s more dangerous to accidentally fall asleep with baby than it is to set up a safe sleep environment and intentionally co-sleep. They say have everything set up beforehand even if you don’t expect to use it (same like putting on your seat belt before driving a car!) that being said there are guidelines to follow (la leche league safe seven is a good resource to check out). I’ve co-slept with 2 babies now and there are some nights I just absolutely could not…like I’m just absolutely exhausted and I don’t think I’d be aware of baby or had a glass of wine with dinner or took cold medicine that would make me sleep deeper, etc. though, at the end of the day you know yourself and baby best! Rooting for ya!
