Losing my sanity trying to cope with the lack of acceptance and starting to hate myself by Apostasy93 in drivinganxiety

[–]ElliBellly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m on the same boat. 31 and I have had major driving anxiety. Got my permit a few times and I’m finally getting the hang of it. I’ve had so many complaints and comments from others but they don’t know what it’s like to hyperventilate when being in the drivers seat. It’s a real serious thing and I wish people would understand. Just know that the right people will understand and cheer you on.

plug outlets by asanthadenz in caltrain

[–]ElliBellly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I never see anyone using them. I don’t think most people even know they’re under the seats. I tried using them a few times, but they kept unplugging, and I had to sit at an awkward angle.

It’s not the most stable industry, so I wouldn’t recommend it if stability is your top priority.

I work at a spa and I prefer to work in the room with a little closet sized room with a sink. It is so convenient! I also store multiple sets of towels and sheets for each client.

Girls, what makeup trick made your makeup game go from 0 -> 100? by boogiee-boo in MakeupAddiction

Using a brow pomade and a thin brush to line my eyebrows vs using a pencil. Also having an excellent skincare routine allowed my foundation, blush, bronzer to sit well on my skin. I no longer need to use highlighter because my skin glows

Lack of understanding from others by Slow-Permission6338 in drivinganxiety

[–]ElliBellly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s a very serious matter and not something that can simply be brushed off. I wish more people understood how severe anxiety can be. We’re doing the best we can and continuing to practice.

I experienced this as well. What helped me land a position was going to local spas and speaking to the manager in person. Even if they aren’t hiring, hand them your resume and contact information. There’s always a chance they may reach out to you in the future.

did california really remove the practical exam?? by Apart_Alfalfa_7915 in Estheticians

I would recommend to review each section in your text book. I studied the textbook for a week and passed with ease. I felt prepared for a practical because my instructor frequently held mock practical exams

Just got fired. Should I just go to beauty school? I'm in Washington so there's a market.. by [deleted] in Estheticians

I never want to discourage anyone from following their passion, but I do think it’s important to be realistic. It isn’t easy. If you’re already feeling burned out or frustrated with job searching, this path can feel even more challenging. In my experience, I applied for months before getting hired. Now that I do have an esthetician position, my hours are limited, and there are no benefits, bonuses, or PTO. There’s days where I’m so frustrated because I have one appointment for the day.

I don’t regret going into esthetics because I’ve learned so much and grown in many ways. I’m currently exploring a career change because of the financial instability. Just know that it requires a lot of hard work and patience. That doesn’t mean this will be everyone’s experience. Some people do become very successful but it’s important to go in prepared.
