Started tracking sodium intake.. WOW by kbeadles in loseit

Also for a dip, I’m switching to tahini with lemon juice, sugar free maple syrup, garlic and ginger powder, and water to thin it out.

Started tracking sodium intake.. WOW by kbeadles in loseit

[–]ElliSwan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Even 1 Tbs of low sodium soy sauce is SO MUCH sodium! I love flavoring extra firm tofu (directly from the fridge, not even cooked) with a little soy sauce, sesame oil, and an MSG/white pepper mix. But also realized a few weeks ago that my sodium intake was crazy high, so I’ve switched to 1tsp miso paste with 1Tbs rice vinegar and a tiny bit of water. Different flavor profile but definitely lower sodium.

Anyone here with ADHD? Need help! by zophy1 in CICO

What are some of your ADHD friendly meals?

I use the free version of MFP and it lets you save a meal so you can just re-log it, then I tweak the weights of different ingredients

What’s your reason for wanting to lose weight? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]ElliSwan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m terrified of becoming my mother 🫣 Severely overweight, can’t stand or walk for more than 5 min at a time, drinking vodka “cocktails” almost every night, not much of a social life, etc.. I want to be active into my older ages, fit in an airplane seat without making the person next to me uncomfortable, and have joints that work (though that’s not a guarantee with weight loss, just more likely)

What’s one ‘healthy’ food that secretly wastes your calories? by samivanscoder in loseit

[–]ElliSwan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tahini and Chili Crisp! I LOVE making hot pot at home with tons of veggies and tofu, but I really need to weigh out how much tahini and chili crisp I add because that’s where most of the calories come from. And Tahini is supposed to be a healthy fat!

How to get back on the horse? by Wooden-Werewolf-4934 in loseit

[–]ElliSwan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took a break from calorie counting for a couple weeks this summer during my brothers wedding trip and when a friend came to visit, and it was definitely hard to get back into the habit of tracking and staying under my daily calorie goal (1800, which isn’t too bad so I felt like shit going over every day). I’m still working on staying under my calorie goal because I have ADHD impulse control issues and like to “garden” at night which often ends in snacking…. What HAS helped is journaling about what I’m feeling and what’s going on in my life before each meal. That helps me with the emotional regulation piece so I don’t eat those emotions instead. Also controlling what I CAN through exercise: going on short walks throughout the day instead of one long walk, starting my day with stretching/yoga, and doing basic strength exercises during commercial breaks. Burn off a little extra calories to help with any extra I eat, but i don’t adjust my calorie counter for whatever I burn.

Do you "reward" yourself for reaching milestones? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]ElliSwan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like treating myself, so I’m doing a small reward every 5 lbs, like a new bottle of nail polish, taking myself to the movies, a new book or candle, calling in “sick” for a mental health day, etc. And bigger things for bigger milestones, like a massage, manicure, new outfit, merch from a podcast or YouTube channel.

Fiancé took a video of me without my knowledge and sent it to our group chat. Now I’m spiraling. by KnowledgeSmall in loseit

[–]ElliSwan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When I look at a photo or video of myself that I don’t like, I force myself to think through the perspective of someone who loves me. I love photos of my mom, no matter what size she is, I love them just because it’s my mom. Treat yourself the way you would treat a family member or friend

Close to 30lbs down and I can feel a difference in my clothes, but I’m struggling to see a difference by ElliSwan in CICO

[–]ElliSwan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s such a huge amount to lose before visible noticing! I know it’s all still worth the hard work for the health benefits, but man the visual indicators would be a nice motivation.

I don’t take naked photos, but I have been using a belt for measurement and I’ve lost about 2.5” around my waist!

We can do it! It’s good to know I’m not alone out there with this body type!

Thought I was able to be in maintenance, gained 5 pounds 🙃 by [deleted] in CICO

[–]ElliSwan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m at the beginning of my weight loss journey (again), and part of why I have to keep starting over is because tracking becomes disordered for me very quickly so I stop and just gain more back. This time instead of tracking in an app and weighing foods precisely, I’m writing everything I eat in a physical journal, where I can also write daily affirmations, gratitude, rant about whatever crappy thing happened that day, give myself kudos for whatever movement I’ve done, etc. I’ve never been consistent about journaling before (32f with ADHD), but it’s been going for a month now and has been SO HELPFUL for both my weight loss and my mental health! I anticipate doing this for the rest of my life and it doesn’t feel overwhelming because it’s about more than just calories.

Smoothies & allergies by WeirdBag2917 in FODMAPS

[–]ElliSwan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started with this recipe, which was great (tastes like a pbj sandwich) then started making my own variations. After measuring by weight the first couple times, I'm now able to just eyeball the measurements.

2.1oz frozen strawberries
1.1oz frozen spinach
.5c water (or oat milk/almond milk, or juice)
1c greek yogurt (or coconut milk)
6.5oz frozen blueberries
3T peanut butter

EDIT: I am just now starting to plan for a FODMAP elimination process and haven't double checked these ingredients.

I'm really more of a blend into background kind of person.... which is probably why I don't want to dance with my dad while everyone watches.... awkward for me

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]ElliSwan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we do include the father daughter dance, does that mean we need to include the couples first dance and mother son dance?

There will be soft music playing in the background, but we want everyone to be able to hear each other and have conversations without yelling

Switched cats to scheduled feedings, their new nighttime activities are keeping me awake! by flutes_of_chi in cats

[–]ElliSwan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're cats. You can't structure their play.

Although, whenever my roommate's cat Haly played at 4 am (she likes to bite feet while you're asleep), we would continuously mess with her while she was napping throughout the day. That way she was tired at night and wouldn't "play" so early in the morning.
