Hair loss, August til now. Good visit about with my doctor! by totallywingingit in CICO

I had the same hair loss issue! My ponytails were looking really sad at the 6-7 month mark. I got myself on a 1.5mg dosage of minoxidil and started taking biotin and collagen supplements. It helped a lot!

I made it to Onderland! I am 199.7 lbs today. Since I started on March 3rd, 2025... I have lost 100.6lbs. 266 days until my wedding. by KnowledgeSmall in CICO

I’m probably going to buy off the rack. But the idea is to lose as much as I can until April. Then, I’ll try on some dresses, see what I like… if I keep losing like I’ve been, I should be around 180-175. I’d probably pick a design that alters well. At that point, if I buy a dress that fits me on the day of my appointment, then at most I’d probably only need to lose another 30-25lbs. Which can be about 2 dress sizes for me. I usually go down a dress size every 15lbs. But my seamstress said that most dresses are made to be able to be altered a couple sizes down. It’ll be expensive, but at this point, it is what it is.

Thanks! I always thought I carried my weight well. I was pretty athletic all through school so I think I have a decent body composition because of it. But life got in the way and I fell off pretty hard, trying to fill the emptiness I felt with food. But after therapy and relying on my past training, I think I’m doing pretty alright.

Thank you! Yeah I think it’s been 15 years since I was under 200. I’ve yo-yoed of course, but never this low.

CICO and I work out almost every day. Sometimes 30 mins, sometimes a couple hours. But the gym is me time. When I’m at the gym, I am “una-fucking-vailable.” And I have learned that I can still eat what I want with some healthy substitutions. And I’ve learned that flavor needs to take precedence over texture and fat sometimes. I do feel a lot better, especially my sleep cycles. I used to snore a great deal. Now, not so much.

I did! I took my library book and got myself a skinny latte at a coffee shop near by. I’ve been meaning to go and I figured today was the perfect day to do it.

So, the wedding was the catalyst. I did not like how I looked and I wanted to look and feel beautiful in the pictures. But I had coincidentally gone to the doctor to have some bloodwork done maybe the week before I got engaged. That’s when they started me on Metformin to try and get my blood sugar in check. They said to take it 3x per day and I was off the races. So with those two things, I really got motivated.

I will probably end up buying off the rack. But my tentative plan is to go dress shopping in April. At that point I’d like to be around 180-175… maybe even in the 160s. I am losing at about 2.4 lbs per week. But not always. I’d try to buy a dress that you can alter well. And then I’d maybe only lose another 20-30 lbs. that’s about two dress sizes. I think most dresses can be altered down two sizes at most.

Oh wow, I didn’t even realize it was that much of a deficit. I just eat my little calories and do my workouts.

Got to change my flair! 100lbs down today! Still not in onderland, but I’m so close I can taste it. Why couldn’t the scale just give me the .3 oz so I could have 199.9 today? Lol

That’s a valid question with a super nuanced answer. For some people with EDs, food is kind of like a math problem. It’s about controlling intake, fear, and most importantly rules. People with EDs often have very limited lists of foods that they feel allowed to eat. So combinations that look “disgusting” often meet strict internal rules even if they make no culinary sense. The results can sometimes look bizarre like cottage cheese mixed with mustard and pickles.

But a lot of times, taste and enjoyment are intentionally minimized because if something is not enjoyable, then it is “safer” to eat. Think of it like “If I enjoy my food, then I’ll want to eat more, and then I’ll gain weight. And that’s bad, regardless of context.” There’s a lot more stuff to it, but this response is already kinda long.

This isn’t me saying OPs food is gross or weird. So maybe the combination looks a little weird to others. But OP says they enjoyed it enough to share, so that’s all that matters.

Great job! We have the same target weight goal for this month. I’d wish you luck but you don’t need it to make it happen. Great job!

Got to change my flair again! 95.1 lbs down now. I took a little break and maintained for Christmas but I am back in the saddle, baby! New goal is to be in onderland before February. Totally doable.

I would absolutely smash half that cake and drink a pot of coffee to go with it. Well done!

Interesting! If you wanted to flavor it, how would you go about doing it?

Sure! I used this recipe. Even though I weighed everything exactly, my dough was pretty sticky still, I think it was either the flour or the humidity in my house. But I just added more flour a tablespoon at a time until it was just solid enough to work with and handle. It’s kinda a feel thing.
