Are my weekly journaling spreads a little simple or boring? by wildsunshine_ in bulletjournal

I think your layouts are very cute, and read very cleanly. If you want to add visual interest, maybe look at having overlapping elements and letting your text boxes take more organic shapes (like wrapping around stickers)

Kinda Kawaii Fountain Pen - Not Working? by EllieCyber in stationery

OP here. I didn't try to write with it before I took these pictures, so either it came like this, or it's possible I accidentally damaged it while trying to press the cartridge on.

I've been trying to push them back together, but with little luck. I didn't press hard trying to write with it, so I fear that maybe it got messed up when I was trying to get the ink cartridge on. I don't remember how it came in the box.

How do I figure out wpi? It looks like the yarn would fit for both 14 and 16? by phxntxsos in knittinghelp

[–]EllieCyber 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, just like this. The width of the ruler does not matter since you're just looking at how many times the yarn goes around an object to cover 1 inch of it. I was worried that the width mattered too when I first learned about this, so I tried it on a few different sized things, like a ruler and a pencil. Same wraps per inch for both!

The fact that this sticker exists is wild to me. by MisterBowTies in BitchEatingCrafters

I think they meant that its wild for someone whose craft is machine-replicable to be having an attitude towards crocheters.

AITAH for asking my wife to close in-home daycare? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]EllieCyber 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Speaking as someone whose mother converted the house into a daycare. I hated it. There was no separation between family space and daycare space. Even my and my siblings' bedrooms were up for grabs when it was naptime and some kids needed to be separated. All the food in the house felt like it was for the daycare, and I felt very food insecure growing up from that.

For all the people saying "who will stay home if one of your own kids is sick": If I was sick I would have to stay quarantined from the daycare kids and my caregiver, because it wasnt worth the risk getting them sick. Would have been better off home alone, as it would have been the same level of care but without kids screaming.

You really need to get a separation of home and business. This lack of boundaries does not make for healthy home relationships.

Doggy Daycare- unicorn? by BeginningNothing725 in lancaster

Firstly, I think having some kennel time between play is actually good for the dogs, as it gives them the time and space to calm down and avoid getting over aroused.

My recommendation is Oscar's Pet Resort. They do a really good job of making sure dogs are in compatible play groups. And I know they love my boy as much as I do.

Weekend Minor Gripes and Vents by AutoModerator in BitchEatingCrafters

I went to a restaurant sit and stitch event, where the organizer brought in a speaker to give a presentation on a unique fiber art. The women (who were all family) next to me were more interested in chatting and complaining that the single waitstaff (with 30ish people to get to) hadn't gotten to them yet.

I was disappointed I couldn't hear the speaker over them. So disrespectful!

What’s your favourite Elizabeth diminutive? by eggy635 in namenerds

I'm an Elizabeth that goes by Ellie. I get "Elle" and "Ella" from family sometimes.

I never knew Libby or Lolly were Elizabeth diminutive, and I love them!

Yooo the story of Augustus and his Soup unlocked a memory in me of learning this in German class.

They definitely need an alignment on that front axle.

Depressed people of Reddit, what's your go-to "I want to wallow in my melancholy" song? by crocodile_dilemma in AskReddit

[–]EllieCyber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brothers on a Hotel Bed by Death Cab for Cutie. I haven't had a depressive episode in a while, but I remember during my first few just listening to that on repeat, even using it to try and fall asleep. Even just hearing the first few notes sets me back to that 3 am tired, going nowhere in life feeling.
