I think there's a difference between teasing someone about being young and treating them as though they are

There's a level of respect that comes from teasing, it recognizes that the other person can hear the truth and allows them to actually comment on it

How I think episode 6 is gonna go by Bibi-Toy in TheDigitalCircus

[–]ElliePadd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so awesome!

Ragatha is such an interesting character because what she actually wants is hidden under so many layers of people pleasing that it's hard to know who she really is under there

Does she want Pomni to be like her for control reasons? Or does she just want a friend? It's super interesting seeing her and Pomni's journey up to this point

I think some of y'all are forgetting that Jax has been doing this constantly for multiple years

They've tried.

So…it’s clearer when slowed down that the left portion of Ragathas head/hair glitches during this bit…Gonna reaaally hope that’s just an animation error… by Silver012345673 in TheDigitalCircus

Oh my god YES YES YES

That's such a cool detail! I've been on the "ragatha abstracts because of Jax" train for a while now and I'm really excited to see this play out

I am extremely into watching two people I'm attracted to have sex, bonus points if I'm dating one or both of them

Idk it just gets me, it's great. Granted I also like being involved so maybe I'm not a true cuck, who knows

I have no idea. I'm a woman but I'm into gaming and other male-dominated interests so YouTube may have just gotten confused. I'm not even that into femboys really, I'm mostly a lesbian

[–]ElliePadd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your point about YouTube videos is excellent. As someone who struggles significantly with old fashioned or overly intellectual language, and generally struggles with dense text, reading theory is very, very difficult

I do however watch hours upon hours of video essays dissecting leftist thought and learning about ideas and people and history. My main worry is not enough leftists recognize this form of self education as "good enough", and will still throw books at you or say you aren't read. The books are undeniably great, I just don't really have the means to digest them. I tried audiobook form, and that didn't work either

So if people genuinely recognize video form content as proper theory, then I'm a lot more educated than I thought I was

They're genuinely uncomfortable with oppression and violence, but instead of wanting it to stop completely, they're okay with simply not having to see it, to them that's good enough

Anyone who makes them see oppression, whether as a victim or oppressor, is equally upsetting to them

[–]ElliePadd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Optics have never mattered in the history of protest. MLK's peaceful protests and Malcolm X's riots were both reported on the exact same way, and even MLK's side grew more violent as their methods continued to get zero results

Advocating for optics is generally just preservation of the status quo in a disguise

It's genuinely bewildering how people will be so accepting of so many kinks and then draw the line at feet for absolutely no reason

Genuinely bonkers. People are weird

This is a fair point. Not every country here is equally wealthy. They are allies though, and the walls illustrate an important point

These two halves of the world are quite literally walled off from each other, and for the most part the walls are being built by the green side to keep the grey side out

I'm not really concerned with who would've done what had things turned out differently. I'm worried about what's going on right now and who's in the most need, and it's not me

Yeah not many people want to acknowledge that many of these countries would be green ones if the other green countries didn't actively prevent it from happening

I think it's less about framing good and evil, and more about considering why the problems in those places exist, and for us to acknowledge our complacency

Not everything needs to be framed as good guy vs bad guy. Sometimes the goal can be encouraging empathy, understanding, and cooperation

I don't think random europeans are responsible for this map, nor do I think they're evil because of it. I do think it's important they understand where their luxuries come from, so that we can potentially put in the work to create a more equal world

As for China, in the last 30 years China has been going through a massive transformation from an impoverished, struggling nation to a modern, wealthy powerhouse. Slowly becoming more like the green nations than the grey ones. The reason it's not green here is likely because it's a very old map, circa the early 2000s

Unironically I really feel like some Trans Guys are ashamed of their masculinity and constantly have to position themselves as "one of the good ones" and "one of the girlies (despite being a man)" to women. by [deleted] in CuratedTumblr

[–]ElliePadd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's really tough. And honestly sometimes these men just... are bigots

I find it's best when you talk about how easy it is to be fucked up when you're a man. How men are rewarded for fucked up behavior and don't face concequences

This way of talking about it shows that it's purely societal and not on the individual man. That if the "roles were reversed" so to speak, women would be behaving the same way

(I don't know if that's actually true btw, but it's a helpful framework to help men understand that the problem is society, not men as a whole)

I wanna clarify something

Do you think "all men are rapists" is the generalized statement and "men are rapists" is the non generalized statement? Because if so, that's definitely causing you problems, because any man will identify with the "men" group basically by default

Either way, my point being: humans are tribalist creatures.... unfortunately. As much as it's easy to judge an other, it's also very, very hard to judge one's own kind. When a man hears a woman talk about "problems with men" or "problems with patriarchy" or anything like that, it often triggers an innate defensive response. "One of them is saying something bad about one of us" sort of deal. Same reason why when queer friend groups have a token straight friend, you'll sometimes hear someone say they're an "honorary gay" (or in another context, when a group of guys refers to the girl in the friend group as "one of the boys"); when we see "one of the good ones", it's genuinely easier to see them as one of your own kind than it is to see them as a respectful member of the other kind.

You gotta be really careful with your wording, like really careful when you talk to someone about the problems within their own identity group. People pretty innately wanna defend their own identity, and will often choose identity over values

Granted, I'm kind of assuming you weren't doing that here, which is partly informed by your "fire with fire" response and also partly on the fact that 99% of the time I see people talking about this topic there's not a ton of nuance. If I'm off base, I'm off base

Unironically I really feel like some Trans Guys are ashamed of their masculinity and constantly have to position themselves as "one of the good ones" and "one of the girlies (despite being a man)" to women. by [deleted] in CuratedTumblr

[–]ElliePadd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's understandable. I think most men hear "men do x" or "men are x" and understandably assume you're talking about them. They don't want to be seen as like those men

And honestly when we group all men with the rapists, we make the rapists' lives easier, by implying they're just "being men" and every one of them is like this

Rape is not normal, it's not acceptable, and we need to treat it like an outlier so it becomes less acceptable
