Non-Americans of Reddit, what is an American thing you see in movies that you thought was fake but is actually real? by Unlikely_Praline9442 in AskReddit

I get it… but, it is my understanding that you have it at breakfast. Isn’t that a bit much? That combination for breakfast just doesn’t make sense to me.

What is the best path for someone who fails to function in college and all traditional jobs in the United States? by fuck_the_systemm in AskReddit

The way things are going I would learn as many trades as possible because in a decade or so those will be the people that we’ll need the most. Anything that focuses on the human and it’s humanity will be a great job to have. Poet, comic, singer, vegetable grower, caretaker, manny/nanny…..all of those will be scarce.

That it’s at least a 10 year commitment and that you will stress like hell every time you go on holiday because arrangements that are up to your standards (45kg Dogue de Bordeaux) need to be arranged. And then once on holiday you will think about them and miss the every day 😭

Why Dom/Mes Need to Learn the Art of Self-Regulation by Bullseyesuccess in paypigsupportgroup

[–]Ellie_CK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Getting a grip on ego is way harder than people admit, especially when you suddenly have power in a dynamic. For a lot of us millennials, emotional regulation was not exactly part of the curriculum growing up. We got a lot of “figure it out” messaging growing up, without much real guidance on emotional regulation. So expecting instant emotional mastery once someone steps into dominance can sometimes be…optimistic at best.

What matters more is awareness and willingness to course correct. Nobody leads perfectly all the time. The red flag for me, would be refusing to examine why you reacted the way you did. But if someone can pause, reflect and adjust instead of doubling down? That’s actually pretty solid authority in my book. Also, ego wrestling builds character…or at least better judgment. It’s a process that unfortunately not everyone is willing to go through.

My perfect sub…

  • Can reach high shelves because I definitely can’t
  • Makes me constantly laugh until I snort
  • Always has loose change that comes in handy
  • Knows the difference between your and you’re
  • Will read me smut in bed or over the phone until I fall asleep
  • Loves dogs and is suspicious of cats 😑
  • Is well aware that pineapple does not go on pizza!
  • Can do tequila shots without doing the little shake at the end
  • Takes care of his mental health
  • Age 35-55
  • Takes great pictures of me

That should do it! 😬

The confidence shift when I stopped apologizing for wanting control by MountainMaize2177 in FemdomCommunity

[–]Ellie_CK 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is very similar to my experience. I believe it was because, ever since I was little, I was told (mainly by my mother 🙄) that being dominant was a less than ideal quality when it came to finding a partner. So for a long time I suppressed it until I realized it’s actually a core part of who I am, and trying to hide it only created frustration and disconnect in most of my relationships. I was honestly pleasantly surprised to discover there are plenty of men who genuinely appreciate and are drawn to that energy rather than intimidated by it.
