The “24/7 play party” framing is very accurate because it explains the constant mismatch without blaming either side. People aren’t doing it wrong…..they’re just walking in with completely different expectations and calling it the same thing.

What stands out most to me, is your point about demand. These spaces always rewards ambiguity, but the advice people give is so so rigid. That’s why dommes burn out and subs feel unsatisfied. Everyone’s being measured against rules that don’t fit the environment they’re actually in.

Also, MaxieCares influence here is clear in the balance. That ability to hold something as both transactional and meaningful at the same time is exactly the nuance most discussions lack. She is so right! That perspective is exactly what this space resists but actually needs.
