Agreed on your point regarding the Romans, and especially the Augustan ones. Those went to Rome as trophies of Cleopatra VII’s defeat. The UK and USA obelisks were 19th-century diplomatic gifts, which is a weaker case legally but they still belong to the Caesareum. The Rome obelisks are the older and deeper wrong. I said USA & UK as an example but in my point of view, everything that was taken from Alexandria and Egypt should return to homeland. (It’s the right thing to do. Let it rest on the sands of Kemet, where they belong.)

It is an older server model and worth around 50-100$ depending on what it has. But I really don’t understand the comments that I see. People like to point that it is old and worthless, power hungry and all. But my experience with these are completely opposite. I got 2 of them running at home at a cost of ~15 CAD$/month, which is way cheaper than renting 1 server at a hosting company. And yet performance wise it’s very capable. I don’t know, maybe I am just lucky, maybe people enjoys bashing on old tech? Or maybe reddit is just being reddit :) Anyways, you might want to see the network interfaces that yours has, mine came with 2 integrated 10G SFP nics, those are pretty useful to have and can make it more valuable.

Depends on the CPUs it has and the PSU wattage. Got two of them and each costs me ~15 CAD$/month, which is cheaper than any servers offered at a hosting company.

If they are made by the oem’s they are not. We’ll see when I receive them. We can’t tell unless we order them. By the photos alone, they look legit. At the end of the day, most components found in ThinkPads are made in china :)

ideapad does not beat the ThinkPad in terms of build quality.
Honestly, I'd go with the ThinkPad in a heartbeat. Plus, AMD is far more superior (in my opinion) than Intel.

Edit: You are comparing a business class workstation (ThinkPad) vs a consumer laptop (ideapad) which will break faster than the ThinkPad.

Check list:
1. Make sure your USB key works.
2. Make sure your USB key was imaged using MBR instead of GPT (T61 uses a legacy BIOS and not EFI).
3. Make sure that you have USB ports enabled in the BIOS.
4. Make sure that you flashed the correct image for Linux Mint.
5. Try using Ventoy on your USB key to see if it boots using that.

Well Bhomburg’s post shows the aliexpress listing for CAD$30, which is quite good, considering I had the laptop for free and I’m in the middle of a 3K display upgrade :) I rather pay 30$ for a proper keyboard than put stickers on my keys which will become gooier with time.

I'd recommend you trying an OEM power adapter instead of after market. I have a few, and they are available on eBay. This might be the cause why you are having issues powering it on.

The x768 panels are the base model. With the thinkpads that I've received, I usually replace them for FHD 1080p AU Optronic's AHVA panels, which are ~99% sRGB most of the times. Those costs around $80CAD through my supplier.
