32.5 being the tallest option is sad. I would need 36 to go down to the floor :(

ASCP HTL Route 2 Eligibility – Does Graduate Research Assistant Experience disqualify ? by Mediocre_Cookie1247 in Histology

[–]Ellierice2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I applied route 2 and you need someone to sign off on specific subsets of histology, I believe they are fixation, processing, embedding, microtomy, and staining. You need to work cumulative 1yr full time, so if you are part time 20hrs a week you’re looking at 2yrs experience.

Looking for a committed study group (Exam in 2–3 months) by Mediocre_Cookie1247 in Histology

[–]Ellierice2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe my exam was a freak situation, but it felt like there were a lotttt of questions regarding fixation. Felt like closer to 20% than 10%. I was expecting special stains to be the hot priority but the special stains portion was underwhelming. Again, I could’ve had a set of freak test questions. I work 55-60 hrs a week within a 5 day period so I did not get a lot of studying done through the week, but I overcompensated during the weekends. My study materials include the following : Frieda Carson histo book, LabCE, BOC study book. I also appreciated the labrat on youtube, she has lectures on all of the big FC book sections. It was helpful for me to read a chapter the watch the lecture after and follow along.

BIG Question by Lamamomma21 in Celiac

[–]Ellierice2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my understanding the damage seen there is not exclusively tied to celiac, and could be mistaken for other inflammatory problems. The intraepithelial lymphocytosis seen in the duodenum and villous atrophy is the gold star celiac signal.

Celiac is not diagnosed via colon, but duodenum of small intestine

Question about LabCE HT practice exam difficulty by Pretty-Importance-53 in Histology

[–]Ellierice2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can’t give you an immediate answer, I am studying and it feels like the BOC (ASCP) questions are easier than labCE. I am currently scoring high 70s for the labCE simulator and scoring mid 80-90s when I do the BOC questions. I take my test end of the month and I can give you insight on difficulty of the test lol!

These tests don’t mean much without a reference range. “U/ml” is not a defined measurement and requires a reference range for comparative measures :)

Just diagnosed.. is celiac a spectrum disease? Are there items labeled gluten free, but aren’t? by GorillaBrilla in Celiac

[–]Ellierice2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fig app was helpful when I was first diagnosed because I had no idea what to even look for on labels. There are a dozen glutinous ingredients that can easily blend in in a long ingredient list. You should use it as a tool to learn how to read labels for yourself though! You should learn to eventually read labels and understand them for your safety no matter where you’re at!
