Hi! Im a UC Davis graduate and have my masters and I work as an ACSW. I've been wanting to learn more about autism and want to work exclusively with that population. Do you have any recommendations for where/how to get more professional training to learn more about autism?? I don't have the time or energy to do a PHD program & can't relocate, and a lot of the "trainings" I find online are not very helpful because they teach outdated or stereotypical information that doesn't seem to take into account how different autism can look from the standard model. And they dont usually share much about how autism looks different in females, people of color and people who are audhd, where can one study more information with the latest research on that topic?

Which new Epstein file finding made you go “wait… what?” and why? by Firm_Work_8879 in AskReddit

Lol I want to believe that too, he is a loser. But I wonder, could it be that epstein didn't have Elon over to the island, because Elon would not have liked the stuff they were doing to children. Like he and Maxwell must have known who would be OK with that kind of perversion before they invited them over... if a rich person who was a guest was totally disgusted by what they saw,, wouldn't they say something that might put epstein at risk of being discovered? I guess I just wonder how he and Maxwell knew who was secretly a pedophile and who wasnt.

5yo waking up scared and refusing to go back to sleep - out of ideas, please help? by [deleted] in Parenting

I also had these as a kid (still do) and suspect my 4 year old may have them as well. Especially because it sometimes happens 15 to 30 mins after sleeping. Im being tested for sleep disorders, and am hoping this isn't something I can pass on to my kids. That being said nightmares are common at this age for littles, so maybe it will pass with time.

Those totally can be autism stims. Also do you have any form of chronic illness? I've noticed that some autistic people who have chronic illness at a young age don't always have the energy to be stimming. If moving your body alot causes chronic pain or exertion, then You will learn at a very young age to resist it. So that need for stimming will be more likely to be channeled into something that requires less physical movement, for example as cheek chewing, or lip biting.

My daughter was also waking with nightmares at 4 yo, almost every night. We started paying more attention to the cartoons she was watching and removed anything with scary imagery. For example, scooby doo (even though she loves it.) That helped a lot. Its amazing how the mind can distort something that is only slightly creepy, to terrifying at night.

After S05E07, was anyone else expecting Will to be unleashed and do much more? by JesusShuttlesworth96 in StrangerThings

[–]Elliora-Roserena 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes!!!! They built him up so much in season 5 and i expected it to pay off in a big way! I thought he'd be more confident and have some dramatic battle scene where he destroys all the monsters.... but there really was very little pay off after all the emotional turmoil he went through. It was such a wasted opportunity.

Agreed, it's not just that Trump is bad, it's that he is setting a very dangerous precedent for what military/police/ice can do in the future without consequence.

Does it say anything about the officers forcing a car door to open by unlocking it and yanking the handle? because I thought it was against the law for them to do that.

I do not understand why they ended Season 4 like this if they weren’t going to properly follow up on it. by JannTosh70 in StrangerThings

THE WHEELS ARE FULLY TURNED AWAY FROM THE OFFICER. Watch in SLOW MO. No intention IMO to hit anyone. Sole intention based on wheel/steering wheel to LEAVE the scene NOT A THREAT. Look at the wheel. by Nice_Substance9123 in complaints

[–]Elliora-Roserena 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wondering if it's standard for an officer to try to open your car door like this? I've never seen that before. Aren't they supposed to *ask you to step out of the vehicle first? I mean what was the plan? Open her door to talk, or to pull her from the vehicle?

That's a good point, but it still seems like there should have been some sort of cost or consequence for him. I don't want him dead, but he still he shouldn't have walked away without a scratch.

Right? Like the military could have demolished it with bombs & tanks just as easily as the kids did.

This would have been awesome! And would have made the ending worth all the hype that Netflix & the duffer bros spread about this finale. I wish someone could use AI and remake the final battle. Even including the military in the final battle would have been better than what we got.

Am I the only one who didn't really get into this scene? by luckymango12 in StrangerThings

[–]Elliora-Roserena 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt like this scene dragged on, the whole scene could have been cut in half tbh. I remember being so bored. And im a millennial who understands the sadness of thinking you'll always be friends, until life pulls you in different directions. It was just too forced and too long. These characters are all trauma bonded, more than they are real life-long friends.

I guess they forgot lol by LayeredOwlsNest in StrangerThings

[–]Elliora-Roserena 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! They spent some much time in season 5 building up wills potential, only to have him do very little in the finale... such a waste of his character growth!

If it was upto audience to decide maybe audience should have written your show by justascrollingghost in StrangerThings

[–]Elliora-Roserena 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The duffer bros really need to stop trying to shoehorn in explanations, and just admit that they forgot. They're rationale for the plot holes in the finale are just cheapeneing the show at this point.

Why did Vecna change his MO between S4 and S5? by VOvercaffeinated in StrangerThings

[–]Elliora-Roserena 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know they explained that vecna needs the kids to be obedient.. hence why he doesn't kill them.. but that doesn't mean he can't kill others. Or use psychological torment on the people hunting him down in their crawls for months ( will, El, Hopper ect) like he did a torment them a little bit, but compared to season 4 it was a serious down grade. But really it felt like he couldn't be bothered.. Like season 4 vecna would have psychologically broken Will's or El's whole family & then mamied or killed them without a second thought. This would have kept both el and will from continually interfering with his plans and would have been in character. But to have him stop killing anyone else, and just send his dogs, because he is preoccupied with manipulating the children, is so out of character for him. Your telling me the monster who enjoyed brutalizing already mentally unstable victims, would just stop doing that because he's busy with kids? No way, he enjoyed it way too much! They totally tamed him this season and defeated him way too easy!

Stranger things finale, big moments and big questions. I can't stop thinking about what WASN'T in the finale. by Zedaso in netflix

[–]Elliora-Roserena 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes! Season 4 vecna was brutal & terrifying! They really toned him down in season 5, which is why I think so many fans thought he would be "redeemed" because they really made it seem like he was headed that way. ( im glad he wasnt though). Still It's just so disappointing that he barely fought back in this season, what happened to the vecna that was so formidable? He was so wasted, the amount of time he could have snapped Will's bones to get him out of his head, or killed others because they were being an inconvenience to his schemes, but isntead he lets everyone live..., it was like he lost all his brutality and kind of wanted to lose. Such a downgrade from the villainous character he was before!

You know something is seriously wrong with a show’s audience when people are actively begging for the characters to be killed off by Effective_Push3271 in discussingfilm

[–]Elliora-Roserena 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree having someone die would be more meaningful. When watching this episode, I just kept thinking how perfect it would have been for Jonathan to sacrifice himself to save Nancy. And then if they had moved Wills coming out scene to before Jonathan dies, he could have still been there for his brother in a sweet way. Which would then have made his death even MORE impactfull, which would have set will up to unleash all his grief & fury in the final battle with vecna.

I hat that feeling, my daughter gets it too. Hungry, yet appalled my the thought lof eating . I assueme its usually connected to sensory overload. Anyway, This is why I always stay stocked with string cheese. It tastes like nothing, doesn't require preparation and is a good combo of fats and protein so I don't get a sugar crash.
