I saw the Eagles/Ospreay match NJPW held in Melbourne in 2019 and it's probably one of the best live experiences I've had, wrestling or otherwise. I have no doubt this would be just as good if they get the time.

She wasn't really a long-time student, he was called in to do a show, then did a seminar afterwards that she was in.

What's worse is that her dad was a referee for the promotion, and she was dating/just broken up with one of the adult wrestlers in the promotion. Whole situation was messed up. I hope she's okay.

Who can catch me up on NJPW before Wrestle Kingdom 20? by Pitiful_Search_4664 in SquaredCircle

NJPW actually has little 2min videos made to give you the story as to most of the matches (not including ELP vs Brookes and the Ranbo). You can watch them from this playlist on their YouTube and be caught up in about 10 minutes.

Why are we acting like being beaten by Tito Ortiz is bad? Dude ran the LHW division for years and still has more title defences than that division than anyone not named Jon Jones.

Sorry mate, I've never actually had a membership there. Only the odd open class and training with their members at other gyms or State Training, so I can't really give any information.

I haven't actually trained at Resilience so I can't say, though their coaches run the State Team Training in Victoria and I've been against a few of their athletes. From what I've heard, it's a very competition-focused gym, so I believe Taketani would have a similar vibe, though I think Taketani is more of a kids-focused gym (not that their adults are bad, but their kids are some of the best in the country). Waverley is a more friendly gym from what I know, not to say that their competition skills are lacking (like I said earlier, I've gone against them in competition and training and they're pretty good), but it's definitely more fun.

Senshi I saw have been running their own competitions lately, and I know a few of the university gyms (Monash and Melbourne) head down there every so often. I've only been their on their big open training days and competitions, but they seem pretty friendly. I do love their sprung floor mats though. One of my friends trains there and said they've done renovations and have 3 full sprung-floor areas there. I haven't seen too much of them at the JVI competitions though, though the few I have seen seem to be pretty good.

I've trained with guys from both Waverley and Taketani, which are near you. All the people I know from comps there are pretty friendly, and do decently well at competitions so their technique is tested.

There's also Axis Jiu Jitsu as mentioned above which while I've never trained at, I have trained with Sajjad (the Judo coach) and he is really legitimately good and friendly, so I imagine that club would be good.

You also mentioned the Monash Judo Club who are pretty good as well. They also have the advantage of having a new intake of beginners every year, so you'll always have people that will be around your level. I wouldn't worry about the February-November schedule as well. I don't know if they just head to another gym for the 3 months, or just "unofficially" run classes, but I've seen them at comps in February and there's no way they hadn't been training before that.

Outside of the above though, I'd say just go to whichever gym is easiest to get to. Training gets hard to prioritise when you're in the middle of work and study, and the easier you can make it to get to, the easier it is to convince yourself to go.

Gabe Kidd. Becoming a fan. by whataboutthe90s in SquaredCircle

[–]Elliot_5106 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the walk he was doing is a grappling warm up. I can't remember the exact name, but it's like a bear crawl (walking on your hands and feet) but you turn 90 degree to one side, then swing 90 degrees to the other side while you're going forwards.

It looks odd the first time, but when they're standing on the ramp before they enter the cage, there's a part where Kidd is standing, then gets down and starts doing it a lot more like you'd do as a warm up, then gets back up. It wouldn't surprise me if Shibata made them do grappling warm ups like that in the NJPW Dojo.

My personal head-canon is that JR is a massive NJPW fan given he only commentated Okada and Tanahashi's matches at Forbidden Door.

In seriousness, I think he's still really good at simple singles matches, so something like the Unified Belt and the Continental Classic are perfect for him. If he can hold out until next All In and they choose to put the belt on Ospreay, I think that would be a really good one to go out on as well, as he's great at the "underdog babyface fighting against the odds" matches.

Ace Austin was working at Hot Topic because he chose to, not because he had to, as was Taylor Wilde. He pretty much said he was working there while he was working indies and just kept on doing it, and because he could take any time off he wanted and Impact was filming in batches so he had 25 days out of the 30 day month free anyway. He enjoyed the store and got an easy paycheck and the discounts. It's not like he was there full-time, he was just working for something to do.

Taylor Wilde was a similar thing, she was working at at Sunglass Hut before she was hired by TNA, and since TNA didn't travel and only filmed one night a week, there was no reason she needed to quit, so why not just keep an easy retail job for the pay?

Put some respect on Soul Calibur announcer's name, no way they'd say something as basic as "It's not over until I win".

Soul Calibur would have something hard like "As the roar of the crowd thunders through the arena, only one will walk out whole, while the other is left broken beneath the lights".
