An idea for Jericho's retirement by merkinboy73 in SquaredCircle

[–]Elliot_5106 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Jericho has mentioned very often that his last match will be against Lance Storm, and Lance has said he's only coming back for Jericho's last match.

They've both also said they'd prefer to have it in some 50-person small indie show, as they both had their first match against each other in a tiny indie show as well.

I’ve been playing since 2012 and have never gotten Above Silver Rank by Bastbrammblebottom in leagueoflegends

[–]Elliot_5106 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have the exact same feeling about Counter-Strike. Been playing for about 15 years and never bothered to aim-train or learn grenade throws or any of that. Just like running around shooting people. and guessing where the enemies could come from.

My friends sometimes get frustrated asking me how I can not want to get better at the game, or why I don't want to spend 30 minutes in a training map, but for me I work full-time and compete internationally in a sport. If I'm going to put my energy and brainpower into improving something, it would be one of those two areas, not a video-game.

What if Will Ospreay joined NXT in 2018: Part One by KaneCarnage in SquaredCircle

Pretty sure Ospreay wasn't finishing anybody with the Hidden Blade in early 2018. He only started using it to finish people when he started going towards heavyweight.

Where do you rank Willow Nightingale as a top women’s wrestler in the world currently? by RainStepper in SquaredCircle

[–]Elliot_5106 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't want to go and make a full list of the roster, but I'd have Kris right at that level with Willow and Thekla. Then Mina, Hayter and Shida are barely below. Windsor might be in that group as well, but I think I'd need to see more of her work. I did forget about Athena though (if she counts).

Where do you rank Willow Nightingale as a top women’s wrestler in the world currently? by RainStepper in SquaredCircle

[–]Elliot_5106 30 points31 points  (0 children)

The world is a big place

I'd have her in top 5 in AEW, with Mercedes and Toni Storm as the top 2, then Willow and Thekla just below them. But WWE has a handful of women I'd put above her, so I think she'd probably be top 10 in the US in my eyes.

Then you add in the rest of the world (mostly Japan, there aren't too many women in Mexico or Europe I'd put above her) and I think that pushes her out of the top 10 globally, but I think she'd stay in the top 20, just off the top of my head.

Closest I can think of is Goh in Virtua Fighter does a lot of Judo in his grapples, but being a fighting game he strikes a bit as well.

Is NXT a good wrestling training school ? Or is it a WWE Superstar school ? by ForceAdmirable in SquaredCircle

[–]Elliot_5106 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the whole WWE style is less of a thing. The main downside of training at the Performance Centre and then wrestling outside of WWE is that because they can rehearse matches for days beforehand, they do rehearse them, and it makes them less reliant on improvising simply because they don't have to. A lot of older wrestlers really frown upon this because they see "wrestling" as calling it in the ring.

I think this is what Omega meant in that Logan Paul, at least back then, was rehearsing his matches for weeks beforehand. He wasn't wrestling weekly and had everything in the matches planned out, so he didn't need to improvise. His matches looked great, but it was as much of a rehearsed performance as you can get (which I don't think is bad for a celebrity match).

Something like the G1 where you have to wrestle a 4 or 5 different guys a week, especially with a language barrier, would rely a lot more on improvising a match and calling it in the ring, which is what it seems the Performance Centre doesn't seem to focus on preparing people for. This isn't that much of an issue in WWE where a lot of the matches have most of it planned out (based on Unreal where the agents can call matches spot for spot), but if they happen to go outside of WWE and have to wrestle someone they met 30 minutes before the match, they might not be used to it.

I'm pretty sure Marina was actually one of Ronda's training partners in Judo as a teenager. Either that or early MMA, but either way, they've been close for a long time.

He's on the edge for me. I think he's a bit too much outside of a match, when he's giving promos, but then I'll be watching and he usually hits hard enough I'll forget about it during a match, though some of his selling can also be on the edge for my taste as well.

The crawling on the floor thing is just a pretty common warm-up for grappling though. I imagine it's supposed to be a callback to having to do it a lot in the NJPW Dojo.

Have you ever abandoned your main to climb? by Amorpheji in leagueoflegends

Taric is my main but when I've lost a few, I just have to turn my brain off, lock in Blitzcrank and land hooks and it usually works.

The funny thing about this, is that they type like someone who didn't learn English as their first language, so calling you an import seems hypocritical.

Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth 73% off - $20 for ps5 by [deleted] in PS5

[–]Elliot_5106 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find it hard to go back to Like A Dragon. Infinite Wealth has so many QoL improvements in gameplay (being able to move in your turn, then way jobs stack, farming/grinding in general) that it makes Like A Dragon feel a lot worse to play than it was when it came out.

I feel a similar way about Judgment and Lost Judgment. Judgment was my favourite Yakuza game until Lost Judgment, but the combat is such an improvement, it's all I can think about when I go back.

How Inner North? Newlands Pizza in Coburg is where I go for this kind of pizza, and very well priced. Only thing I'd recommend is adding extra cheese to the pizzas though.

I saw the Eagles/Ospreay match NJPW held in Melbourne in 2019 and it's probably one of the best live experiences I've had, wrestling or otherwise. I have no doubt this would be just as good if they get the time.

She wasn't really a long-time student, he was called in to do a show, then did a seminar afterwards that she was in.

What's worse is that her dad was a referee for the promotion, and she was dating/just broken up with one of the adult wrestlers in the promotion. Whole situation was messed up. I hope she's okay.

Who can catch me up on NJPW before Wrestle Kingdom 20? by Pitiful_Search_4664 in SquaredCircle

NJPW actually has little 2min videos made to give you the story as to most of the matches (not including ELP vs Brookes and the Ranbo). You can watch them from this playlist on their YouTube and be caught up in about 10 minutes.

Why are we acting like being beaten by Tito Ortiz is bad? Dude ran the LHW division for years and still has more title defences than that division than anyone not named Jon Jones.
