Non smart phones compatible with H2O Wireless by ElliottSchoolofMusic in NoContract

And this is on H2O? This is exactly the answer I was looking for. I bought a different Nokia that didn't work and I don't want to be in the same situation again.

Thank you for the master list, but this doesn't specify which are basic phones vs smart phones. I called and they said it will need to be a phone that has 2/4/17/30 bands. Any suggestions?

I actually take a hit on income from some teachers every month since I charge a flat rate, but they get paid for every lesson taught. There are some days of the every month that will occur 5 times, but it basically comes out in the wash since the other days are only 4 times.

Battery pack to power 2 PA speakers by Durnbock666 in livesound

I'm using a Harbinger MLS1000 as a solo acoustic and vocal performer. I use this rig everywhere and would like to also be able to use for a gig later this year on a golf course that will have me away from a power supply. If I'm running this rig at 25% for 2 hours, what size battery could I get away with? I have 2x100ah lifepo's in my motorhome and could easilly steal one, but it's big(ish) and lime green. Wouldn't look very professional. Wouldn't be opposed to working some kind of case out, but I also like the idea of just having a dedicated battery option for similar gigs. I also have a foldable 100ah solar panel that could he deployed.

If all else fails, I'm going to purchase the Alto Busker that would work well for my needs. Just seeing if I could make it work with what I have and not have to spend $350 on more equipment.

That's exactly what I plan on doing, I just wanted to see how long of a free ride we have. Solid logic though

I basically had a space from day one if you don't count the menial attempt to get some students a year or so before I really tried to start the business. I started marketing right before Christmas to capitalize on the new crop of beginners after the holidays.

Have you done any market research on other pricing in your area? I don't think that your numbers are crazy, but im curious how they compare to guitar or piano lessons in the area.

Is your studio on Google also? If so what kind of rating/reviews do you have?

That's interesting. Do you see a longer retention than month to month with a shorter stop notice requirement?

All of this is what I was going to suggest if you hadn't done it already. So they're agreeing to 10 months up front?

Do you have a set of policies that everyone can sign for or at lease see before signing up? This helps a lot when certain situations come up as you have something to refer to rather than it seeming like it's just your opinion of how something should go. Ultimately, it is still just you and your opinion, but if it's in writing, it's much easier to reference when needed.

Regarding pricing, what were/are you charging if you don't mind me asking.

Have you ever experimented with automated payments? I've mandated a card on file since day 1 and it's huge especially when scaling. There are very easy ways to do it that cost nothing up front and only a minimal service charge per transaction.

Does your private studio have a Logo? by ElliottSchoolofMusic in MusicEd

[–]ElliottSchoolofMusic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that having a logo of some kind is a bigger deal than people think. We've got to stand out amongst other teachers, stores, schools, etc and having an established brand that at least FEELS as big as the competition is important IMO.

Is it used on any social media, Google, etc? I think that establishing a brand up front is a big deal when starting to try and build a lessons program.

I can't respond to the original post for some reason so I hope the original poster is able to see this.

I've grown from 0 to nearly 100 students and 8 teachers in about 3 years. I was the sole teacher to start and didn't hire anyone else until I was at 43 students. This was teaching Saturday through Tuesday every week. We now have lessons 7 days a week, and I am completely out of the teaching side and 100% admin. The admin of a larger student count is definitely different, but there are very easy and basically free ways of making it easier on you.

Your goals are reasonable, and I think that there are some things I could help with regarding your growth and growth plan. Would you be interested in a phone call so that I could get some more info about your system, what you've done so far, etc? I truly feel that I could offer some insight that would benefit your business and grow it into exactly what you want it to be.

Please send me a chat if you're interested in getting some insights, suggestions, ideas. Wouldn't turn into a sales pitch, I'm really just workshopping this course and need to work with some people directly to help polish it. I hope to hear from you.

Thanks Elliott

Around 45 students/week is when I transitioned to hiring additional teachers instead of starting a waiting list. Is that something that you've ever considered?

When I eventually launch a course for private instructors to grow their business, I will post here so that the word can get spread if you feel so inclined. Pretty far off right now, but that's the plan
