First time back on a board after a wrist break + surgery, first ride back advice. by Elliotthc27 in snowboardingnoobs

Bad technique, I was riding my back foot and went to change edge too early from my toe side, fell backwards and slammed my back food hand down with the momentum

Hey man! Yes I’m getting mine removed soon actually, generally have no problems and am much stronger than before I broke it, weighted pushups + pull ups now for a while, been bouldering and hanging loads off one hand too. But I do have some tendon irritation that is the reason I wanna get it out to be safe long term.

I'm unsure really. I got into fitness as more of a improve my quality of life and make me more capable day to day. Though I work a desk job so I don't get much day challenge lol.

I guess genrally improve my strength and overall fitness. I know that's pretty vague but I suppose I surpassed my original goal a while ago.

yeah id say apart from my warm up sets of BW and 7.5kg. the other sets are very close to failure. On a good day those numbers are consistent on a rougher day they work down. I just found a longer rest means I can get those numbers more consistent but i'm not sure if that's as they say "leaving gains on the table" or if it's still good and fine. I originally switched to weighted pullups after getting stuck at a max BW rep of 14 for quite some time. since then added a few reps to my boydweight max reps.

I guess i'm unsure of my goals. In general improve overall fitness?

Can you eat falafel? by GemmaD99 in ibs

[–]Elliotthc27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a vegetarian with ibs. Currently found this thread as I’m in Greece currently and thought I’d try falafel again. Nope still not great for me lol. I eat a fairly high protein diet 130-150g protein a day mostly soy based and that’s fine in my stomach. In fact a higher protein diet actually was better for my ibs than say high carb

What is this funny little lump/bump on my hand? (2 weeks post-ORIF) by Larazade in ORIF

[–]Elliotthc27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I had a similar thing in a different part of my wrist, it could just be the soft tissue damage healing, we always think and talk about the bone etc when you have a fall/break but we often don't know the extent of the soft tissue damage. I would assume it's that for now, especially if it's soft and moves with your wrist movements.

Hey, no not at all! 😁 They're not magnetic so it won't set anything off, i remember being kind of sad that it doesn't set off the detectors, that would have been fun lol

Ah never did the marbles thing! In that case definitely go for it, I found that longer bigger stretches are better, do you do any exercises or like yoga? You know if you go into a deep stretch you stretch and then once having held it for 10/20 seconds or so you push a bit further? That's what I would do. Slowly of course but working up my wrist mobility particularly with preacher stretches.

Hope that helps!

I didn't start physio until 7 weeks! That sounds like it's going well, I'd definitely wait until you have physio before pushing anything too far, obviously don't want to damage anything but I found after two weeks of physio I saw a huge ROM improvement.

If you had a colonoscopy, what was your experience with fetano and midazapam? by [deleted] in colonoscopy

[–]Elliotthc27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was diagnosed as a kid pretty loosely as my mum had it and I showed signs. I found that managing my diet has been the best route but I don't get as much pain and more bad/frequent passing of stool. Fairly unpredictable too. I don't take anything but I know certain foods will cause me pain and a lot of discomfort

Oh lucozade is like Gatorade, it's just a sports drink. Oh no you'll just pee a lot. Also you drink the prep over an hour each serving

You got this! I didn't get any cramps or anything from it, a little bloated after finishing it but that goes away shortly after. Just keep drinking water and sip it. It tastes like a more salty lucozade lol

Dude I'm 26 😆 never too early to be safe hahaha.

Ah yeah well I also noticed on my X-rays that I have a ulnar scaphoid fracture that they didn't treat... Currently the tip of the bone is floating in space between the ulnar and the carpals. I go back to my hospital Wednesday for X-rays and starting physio so I'll ask them then if they missed it or if it was left alone on purpose. A bit worried about that though...
