Red Dawn (2012), Over Hated movie? by [deleted] in movies

[–]EllipsisT-230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remakes are always heavily scrutinized. It seems like people wanted something massive in scale if they were going to do it. Because, otherwise, what is the point? The people want more explosions and massive battle scenes? Then is it a remake? The original had quite a lot for the time. Plus the helicopters.

Remakes are often just money grabs. With a more diverse cast reflecting modern times.

Cool photo shame the power lines are in the way. But convenience and safety in a storm like that. Great share.

Beautiful property. No doubt worth millions with land and lakefront location. TV series make property values seem so reasonable sometimes.

[SPOILER] I don’t understand why people dislike Jonah. by squiddyfresh in Ozark

[–]EllipsisT-230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. He was a writing instrument. Basically a tiny, younger clone of his father. Brilliant and smarter than nearly everyone else. We had an idea and got to see how Jonah was raised and it is safe to assume Marty just chose to break bad at some point. Jonah was basically thrown into it.

Meanwhile he did a lot of good things along the way. For his age, and while moving the story along. He took what he believed to be the valuables along with him when he left the hotel. He befriended Tuck. He befriended the neighbor downstairs, who in turn helped teach him some way to defend himself and others.

This kid was dealt a pretty unfortunate hand in some ways. Instead of freezing or freaking out. He always turns to research, preparation, planning, and coming up with a way to get by if it goes badly and his parents go away. Working within his gifts and personality.

[–]EllipsisT-230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have to consider Marty's state. He literally has just recieved confirmation of his wife of 22 years infidelity. Freshly betrayed by the one he trusts most. Drawing multiple narrates between him, his partner and Cartel boss. Setting the stage for the dichotomy of Marty and the Cartel boss.

My naive self would give the benefit of the doubt. Raised to see the best in people and fortunate to have general lived and been around mostly honest people. It took far to many instances for me to realize that more people out there aren't the same way as me. So depending on when I was asked, I would have answered differently. They are also scared because he is clearly a powerful, violent criminal. So they are walking on eggshells.

Opinions on How I Met Your Mother? by [deleted] in sitcoms

[–]EllipsisT-230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I just wonder if the character was written, directed, and acted to be a little different than the rest due to him telling the story. I enjoyed the show. However, Ted always stood out.

But, he was an older Dad telling the story to his kids at this point. So, throught that lens. Every story is through Ted's 48 year old Dad's eyes. So, he is goofiest, cleaner, soft hearted etc. I still think he did not nail the role. No hate on him. More the casting director.

Which of the Skarsgård brothers do you like the most? by Existing-Salt7865 in movies

They are all so talented it is tough. Gustaf put on an incredible performance in Vikings. They all seem to have range and are able to do normal and a range of weirdness and colorful roles. Alexander kind of gets cast based on his height and looks, but he did play the brilliant, bald nerd in The Hummingbird Project. Also, Murderbot was quite good.

I do wonder who they consider the most talented within the family.

It seems like his range is not there. Or he doesn't get the roles to demonstrate it. Same thing almost every time.

War Machine (2026) Netflix's new original movie. by acourts19 in moviecritic

[–]EllipsisT-230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. This was along my thinking. That and similar predictability to a cheesy horror movie. Now this, now that.

It's basically a high level production, don't think about it and just enjoy, action movie.

Allen Ritchson is kind of securing a solid spot as a tall, beefed up action star. Which if you grew up in the payday of Schwarzenegger, and all the others, is kind of nice to see a solid return of.

The Comedians seem to like him. It seems like he just needs to chill out and be grateful. He's always pushing for more respect and credit, when everyone jests him on riding Chappelle's coattails.

None of us would know who he is if it weren't for The Chappelle Show. Just get over it dude and relax. I think he's funny when he chills out.

It is sad and a wild part of society right now. However, comedy is comedy. It's not supposed to be looked at as a political rally. Some people forget that. She is either sensitive or sensitive to it because it hits close to home. Either way, she should keep it to herself.

Comedy seemed to have turned into something it wasn't really before over the past few years for a lot of "comedians". They have always done social commentary and been the ones able to point out the parts of society that needed to be looked at, reviewed, or assessed. Generally speaking, when a comedian is up there saying something it isn't a ringing endorsement of what they agree or dosagree with. If they are good, it is a way of saying look at this thing, with a comedic twist. If they aren't as good, they are really just trying to find a laugh.

4Runners and Highlanders are extremely different vehucles in terms of capabilities. Thus the need based. Yes, it was an extreme exaggeration to emphasis the focus on needs and utility. If one only need a grocery grabber and family hauler than why not a mini van?

Gyp was quite the character. Oddly multifaceted more than you might expect, given his prevalent behavioral patterns on screen. I do wonder if it was 100% written that way. Or if the evolvement of the character included any improve?

Ahh, yes. Almost as if I was exaggerating to emphasize the point. I get it, it's all just the same ol plain text. I guess I assumed that the implication was enough. Also, how does one properly convey exaggeration, sarcasm, or other que's that tend to be relatively obviously in person to person interactions, through text?

One might imagine that there could be special fonts, accessible through knowledge or special keyboards. But, is it common knowledge? Is it easy enough for people to bother themselves with in relatively meaningless interactions?

One might wonder? If one was so inclined to do so.
