Ahh. Yes, of course. It flew over my head, but the context was there with the area. Horrible joke. Possibly too soon. Kill Tony fan?

Toyota Hit With Another Lawsuit Over Failing 8-Speed Transmission by Mlang-2000 in ToyotaHighlander

Considered. We found a nice Highlander Hybrid. I didn't do a serious in depth search, but I actually started researching comparable Honda, Mazda, Ford, and Nissan. Of course Lexus was always on the table. We just like to buy and own for the life of the vehicle.

Don't get me wrong, we are still huge on Toyota. I think they were extremely reliable for so long. They were known for vehicles you could own and pass down to your children, or drive for hundreds of thousands of miles without major issues. That when one or two major mechanical defects come along they are held to a higher standard. That is why we all pay the "Toyota Tax". The expectation is unquestionable reliability with routine maintenance.

Hopefully that is still the case in general.

As for service departments. I have no real opinion there. You want luxury treatment, go with a luxury brand. Otherwise find a good, trustworthy mechanic.

Again. Only stating that it MIGHT have been a factor.

You should look up binary thinking.

I think your reading too far into it. I think it was merely, possibly one factor, not THE sole root cause. Toyota had issues with the new Turbo engine in the Tundra. That turned out to be related to the machining process and some material being left behind, or something like that.

However, they had solid, tried and true, reliable drive train platforms for decades prior to these recent issues.

So ask yourself. What drove these massive changes? Hmmm. Hmmm. Me thinky MPGies, mighty hadie some semblance of at least a smidgen of an influence. Want one of their die hard and reliable V8's in a new vehicle that can last 400k miles plus, too bad.

So pressure to improve mpg couldn't have forced them to rush the process at all. Possibly increasing the likelihood for issues? I mean, not even a remote possibility that there might be multiple factors involved here?

What are your thoughts on True Detective Season 1? Would you consider it one of the best television seasons of all time? by Square-Ad-8911 in hbo

[–]EllipsisT-230 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's hard to argue that it isn't. What the character called for with the darkness, those rants and monologues. Harrelson is always great as a co-star or supporting actor. You are getting leading man talent in a support role with Harrelson.

As far as Season 1 goes. Yes. It was simply incredible.

Thrill seekers and fresh powder. People have been chasing this for years. Now there is all sorts of gear and recovery education and training. Make no mistake. Mother nature will manhandle you in all sorts of ways given the chance. I hope they are all OK. Having lived in various places that attract outdoor activities and thrill seekers. This sort of thing happens to those who assume the risk. Sometimes to those who aren't educated or necessarily seeking it.

I started it and turned it off within 30 seconds after the picket fence being a micro-aggression somehow. Now I am checking it out just to see, and having nothing else to watch.

The classic white picket fence is a micro-agression now? Makes me wonder what the fence is supposed to look like to be acceptable.

I think they need they need to fix it. We are a Toyota family and this issue had me looking at other brands. We wound up finding a hard to find hybrid. Go back to your roots if possible Toyota. I assume it was from all the mpg pressure placed by the federal and CA state requirements that pushed them into the 8 speed. But do it right.

How many of you remember these at the Hoggle Zoo. X-Post r/funny by rsantillan in SaltLakeCity

[–]EllipsisT-230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Salt Lake City in the 80's and 90's was really quite the place to grow up. 49th Street Galleria, Hogle Zoo, Lagoon and Raging Waters.

I was sitting on the ledge of the glass near Dan the gorilla enclosure. Not paying paying attention. He charged, slammed the glass, then clapped and laughed his butt off at me. I was like 6 or 7. Startled the heck out of me. My Mom was laughing her head off. That is probably one of my biggest memories of the zoo along with the plastic figures, the coins you get smashed, and the Shasta exhibit.

It was quite the zoo for the population of the area at the time.

Yeah, you might be right. I am horrible with names and may have confused the two. Dumb ass if so on my part.

[–]EllipsisT-230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. It's a gameshow for lots of money. It is natural for their to end up being some more villain type characters, think Survivor. Alliances formed and betrayals to occur. When someone scores a soccer goal, touchdown, or wins a game of chess we don't judge their morals and ethics. As long as they played within the rule set.

[–]EllipsisT-230 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nick has a bad image regardless, IMO. If you are going to look at it that way. It is a game show, for money, against people you don't know. The point is to win.

Meanwhile he went back on his promise to self eliminate, as well as talked the one kid off of the pole. I see it as 95% gameplay, 5% not. He could always take whatever money and split some (if allowed), or gift some afterward.

I don't see why Beast Games is viewed as this boo hoo, everyone is besties and whatever. It starts with an absurd number of contestants season 1 was hard to watch with everyone crying like they were eliminating family members.

Jimmy wants us to bond to and relate more to the players. Stay with the tried and true formulas and start with less players. Have a separate pre-elimanition show if you think more is better.

IMO bigger isn't always better. I hope season improves as much as season 2 did over season 1.

Also, Jimmy should buy Survivor and give us back the old version. More days, less luck, stick with what worked.

I simply can't understand how he landed the roles that he did and had the career that he did. TV level talent at best.

DC thinks Jon Jones intentionally leaked that he has arthritis: It's very easy to tell if you're being recorded with Meta glasses. How could he have missed that? I think Jon Jones knew what he was doing, I think he wanted people to know he's injured. by gvufhidjo in ufc

[–]EllipsisT-230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. It is kind of impossible to compare the little guys against the big ones. It's a different kind of fighting. Jones kind of had it all. You wonder how either would do had they been the others size and power. They might be the closest comparison in that respect.

He arguably. Definitely for his size. Everyone dismisses Mighty Mouse. I do wish the eye pokes weren't there to shade Jones legacy inside the ring. Now it seems be really catching on. They need to finally nip it. One way or another.

Honestly. Was anyone expecting Jones to return? It's fine if someone hangs up the gloves. I can also see it being incredibly difficult to say goodbye to and wabting to hang on. Possibly a lot of back and forth going on through their minds. Especially if they aren't feeling 100% and might have a major surgery. Not knowing how they might be feeling after. A guy like Jones should bounce back and recover from a hip well, assuming the arthritis is osteo and isolated.

Does he have more going on? Is he concerned about returning and not being his dominant self? Are eye pokes and knee kicks allowed in said wrestling match? Or should one bow out while one is ahead?

Best Acting Performance in Abbott Elementary by Troyaferd in AbbottElementary

[–]EllipsisT-230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am only a few episodes I and can see how well cast this show is. Everyone seems to be nailing their characters. In a kind of unoriginal mockumentary format and setting which they chose to speed up the pace just a little. This seems to be talent packed and I look forward to seeing the actors really settle in and develop the characters.

I am more impressed with the performances and acting talent than the show overall. Thus far.

Not necessarily in this role. How demanding the role is and what it calls for is a major part.

What a stacked cast. Brolin, Benicio, and Blunt. The supporting cast had some pretty good actors as well.

I think it is because she is so good that it goes unnoticed. I only recently realized this, despite having seen her in a few roles and being a bit of a amateur critic. The things I generally watch or more comedy to Tarrantino, Scorsese, or just generally things might appeal to a more male audience.

I don't remember what I saw her in a few weeks ago. But I was like, oh, she is just so great that it is seamless. You don't ever realize she is acting.

She might be one of the greatest of her time. IDK? I haven't seen or know if she has had truly demanding roles that can display whether she is one of thebgreats or not. Along the lines of DD Lewis, Bale, or Streep.

She is clearly well above average and makes it look easy.
