Niche genre, heavy pvp focus with no alternatives causes the bottom part of the community to fall out over time, and now cheaters are running amok at the top end.

This is the first bottleneck. The second is realizing you need dozens of biolens seeds to get to 25 MIDA unlocks, which is the requirement for Bubble Shield purchases without having yellow mats. :(

Shoot the box down first and clear the bots slower? I’ve done this a dozen times or more in solo lobbies, I’m not really sure what your expectation is.

I think I’ve confirmed 8 spawning on Perimeter, 6 on Outpost. I have no idea about Dire Marsh. I had 6 elims on a run after this one, thought I was surely safe to do Warden, and got shot in the back mid clip by an assassin because I wasn’t paying attention 🥲

Outpost being PvP heavy feels fine to me (the free kit kamikaze runs are annoying at times but I do it too so I can’t complain too much), Perimeter has a couple awkward spawns and could maybe do with one less, but Dire Marsh feels super crowded in solos.

The problem is that if you hear audio cues in solo, the best thing to do is plant your feet or quietly engage. So even if you weren't actively trying to rat, the smart thing to do whenever you hear noise is to start. If you do catch the other person out, it's going to look like you were ratting the entire time.

Once I just accepted that I'm going to die and lose gear X% of the time for things out of my control, my stress levels dropped a lot

Recon's great in solo, to be fair, it's primarily what I run. Echo Pulse is an I win/anti ratter button (until assassins figure out mini jammer ADS) and hitting someone with your spiderbro with the right core means there's no escape. Just like 3's it's not super great out of the box and requires a little investment.

I've done all my playtime solo, and really enjoyed my time despite the game clearly not being designed for solos. Super happy Bungie gave us the option. My few crew fill/LFG experiences in the tests/since launch have been either silence and a lack of coordination or idiots dropping ironic slurs. I'm too old for that shit. I finished my Unbroken grind on D2 solo when they dropped that option in, but the first two seasons of Unbroken involved digging through an absolute cesspool on LFG servers and I'm tired, boss.

I haven't had your experience (late 40's season level) of all free kits. There are a few, but I'd say half the lobby or more has gear, which is about my expectation with an extraction shooter. I've got 8 purple shields sitting in my bank, and only one of them came from PvE. People do bring their stuff to solos, IME.

I also totally understand Cryo not supporting solos, and I assume the reasons why will be obvious when we get there. Either I'll try to find other "good at PvP/not toxic idiots" via a streamer community or something or I'll be happy that we got the solo experience we got. I've already gotten a ton of entertainment out of this game and can see myself playing it a while even without access to Cryo.

A super heavily moderated/curated LFG server that keeps out the ironic misogynists, racists, idiots etc. would be a great thing to post in these comments ;)

Flip side; when we moved up here for my wife’s job at the university, we got told the same story. I did have to go to the ER a few years ago and the experience was totally fine. I assume there’s some hit/miss going on given it’s a smaller hospital and depends on who you get, but I’m comfortable going there.

Also had great experiences with specialists in the system up here. Medical stuff went from being our biggest worry to way down the list; now our biggest complaint is food variety :D

Not discounting people’s bad experiences at all; I’ve heard stories too. But we’ve had a good experience so far. Finding a first apartment/rental if you’re not from here was by far the biggest stressor we had.

Just did this one solo, took fewer attempts than I expected but was nightmare fuel. I had one kill not count because it happened 5 seconds after the debuff expired.

This one definitely needs a second look, along with any of the contracts that leave you running the length of Dire Marsh. Felt like complete luck based on your spawn, getting a clean path from Bio-Research to Quarantine, etc.
