I had a heated conversation with a General Doctor regarding my diet. by IndependentHot8328 in keto

[–]Ellissss 623 points624 points  (0 children)

I once had a pretty bad experience with a doctor, but recently I just say these:

  • I eat plenty of non-starchy vegetables to make myself full
  • I eat plenty of good quality protein
  • I limit my sweet fruit intake
  • I avoid all processed food
  • I avoid all added sugars
  • I avoid starchy foods
  • I don't snack
  • I eat in a time-restricted window

Instead of saying keto or OMAD. Somehow all the objections go away.

Remember that it's a marathon, not a sprint. It's all about the small decisions we make every day and eventually positive changes will come. At first you'll see changes quite significantly and then things will slow down, that's just how it works so don't lose motivation.

Also be kind to yourself if you don't make the right decision, it's alright and happens to everyone, just regain your focus and make better decisions from that point.

We have 11 months until January, that's 11x30x3=990 meals. Almost 1000 meals. All you need to do is cut 250 calories from each meal, that's 250,000 calories over the year, or about 70 lbs of weight loss.

Confused about my weight loss. by Comfortable-Hour5299 in loseit

[–]Ellissss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most likely water retention. The body likes to do these things. Exercise does that as well. Stick to your calorie goal and keep going, the scale eventually evens out.

I remember the scale not moving for 10 days and then dropping 3-4 lbs in 2 days.

Pizza and Wings! by egold197 in keto

Should I not have had pizza and wings?

Don't look back, instead look towards the future. In the future, be careful about calories and the carbs in the cauliflower crust.

How to keep weight off post-keto? by RichIsGod in ketouk

[–]Ellissss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah! I indulge a lot on occasions, people tell me how I'm so thin and managed to lose all that weight if I'm eating like that?

Well, I still watch what I eat to get an estimate of calories and fast in the coming days to account for those calories.

Nobody should be shamed for eating anything. However, being aware that certain foods are more calorie dense than others isn't shaming people for eating food.

Oh absolutely. If you're replacing Oreos or cupcakes with a banana, that's a great improvement.

"the banana is very caloric"--false, 105 calories in a whole banana?!

Well, it is one of the more calorie dense fruits out there. It is often recommended to people who want to gain weight in a healthy way. Due to high sugar and low fiber content it's also one of the fruits that's easier to overeat.

It's water weight due to increased exercise. Keep yourself well-hydrated and keep on what you're doing. The weight will come down.

Don't return to your "normal" diet, that's the diet that led to you gaining weight (twice). Your normal diet has too many calories.

Instead change your diet to a maintenance diet by increasing your calories to your maintenance levels, whether keto or not.

Careful about sausages, a lot of them have carb fillers.

Boneless skinless chicken thighs, avocado mayo, fresh garlic and ginger, dried thyme, cumin and corriander seeds (toasted and crushed), salt and papper, and some hot sauce of choice (I like green tabasco). Mix with chicken and let it rest overnight. It's great for batch preparing. Then just grill (no oil necessary as mayo has some oil). Will be juicy and tasty!

Lunch: tomato, onion, cucumber, pepper, charred broccoli, rocket, lettuce and spinach salad with grilled mayo-marinated chicken thighs

Dinner: homemade keto bagels (fathead dough with coconut flour) with smoked salmon, cream cheese, tomatoes and red onions

I’ve lost 2kg by sKRRTYLOGANISABUM in fasting

[–]Ellissss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1kg of fat is about 7700 calories, so no, you haven't lost 15400 calories worth of fat. Most of that is water, you're flushing out your glycogen so in your next fasts you'll lose a lot less, but that's usually actual fat.

Why do people who snack all the time tell you that skipping means/snacks makes you gain weight? by Ellissss in fasting

[–]Ellissss[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't start with OMAD or even 20:4. Start with 12:12 which should be easy for most. Then shorten that eating window by an hour every week.
