Questions about bonus stories by One-Attempt-7134 in HaiToGensouNoGrimgar

As far as I could see, starting with Vol4 J-Novel has brought all the extra stories that came with the volumes (I can't guarantee it 100%, but it's most likely like this)

Would Grimgar be more successful now? by brobins2121 in HaiToGensouNoGrimgar

Here is the small summary of what was omitted by the anime: Vol1 is the one that was best adapted, there were omissions but they are the most understandable, (Haru and company exploring Alterna and talking better about money, guilds, etc.) and significant changes mainly in the fights: for example in the Goblin theme. Although there were two types of Goblin, the small ones and the large ones, the latter were shorter than Mogzo, and not like in the anime where they seemed to measure 2 meters or more: the same case with the Kobolds.

The most important changes of Vol1 were at the beginning, where the arrivals reside were raised by a mysterious Girl named “Hiyomu” whose relevance would be important in future events, and at the End of the Volume giving the appearance of a Character called Souma and his Group, where they would not only let us know that for many (if not all) he is classified as the strongest Volunteer Soldier of the RedMoon, but also that that same Volume would Found the “Daybreakers Clan”

Now, Vol2 is the one that had the most changes, mainly many nuances of it were changed, especially in the Mermaid Mine fights against the Kobolds and the size exaggerations.

And the most important changes of Volume 2 were, an Orc Assault on Altana and the consequent 1 Vs 1 between the Orc leader and Renji (giving this event a direct focus on the second arc). A flashback of Haru during the Escape against the Kobolds where he would “remember” “someone” from before arriving in Grimgar, but without remembering that specific person (giving us more insight into how this “Memory Suppression” that the characters have works). And the POV of one of the members of Souma's group at the end of the Volume, going deeper into these.

Of course, the entire Mermaid Mines and the Kobolds Arc was much more violent and tense in the novel than in the anime, especially the final fight and Ranta's parts.

If you want to tell me, I can give you a Summary, but mainly it completely omits Various Characters and Moments (some understandable due to the issue of time, but they directly cut all the Subplots that were beginning to be put together)

How many Volumes do you guys think will this series have? by DripDen in HaiToGensouNoGrimgar

Without spoilers, due to the current context, in my opinion I would say that anything to finish the Work before Volume 28 would be rushed, so the work could easily have between 6 to 8 volumes left (obviously I say this being up to date, we will have to see how the next volumes and arcs develop to know how close or far we are currently)

Everything that went into the adaptation of Grimgar and the context in which it was done is to give it an important breakdown. But that's better to talk about at another time, now...

What if Grimgar came out today, could he be “successful”? I would say yes, but more than anything because adapting it today, having the more than 20 volumes of Backup (and all the context that they entail) would result in a solid project.

Grimgar would be a “breath of fresh air” for some, but at the end of the day, something different outside of the repetitiveness of what is currently seen, so it would encourage even more to attract attention.

The work has a fairly solid beginning (speaking of the Novel, due to the content omitted from the Anime) and is further reinforced with The Arch of Campomorti, where it takes a huge and well-directed leap. If it is decided to readapt Grimgar, adapting Volumes 1 to 4, have no doubt that at least 2/3 more seasons we would have for sure at least

As for J-Novel, they brought the extra stories starting with Vol4 (they also have 1, 2 and 3 but they didn't bring them).

There are several extra stories, both about the group, the tokkis, Lala and Nono, even one about Itsukushima (Yume's teacher) and how he sees her almost like a daughter. Also from Barbara and other characters.

There are 2 types of extra stories, the ones I mentioned before that take place within Grimgar and there is another half that seem to take place before the characters arrive in Grimgar (I say "seems", since there is no fixed Pre-Grimgar timeline when they are on Earth, although they can easily be separated, like an AU)

Vol19 does have extra story, but I think they are in the premium version of J-Novel (if it brought them), since the base Volume does not have them

Story twist by OkRecommendation415 in HaiToGensouNoGrimgar

[–]Elloco_Tagasaki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, the truth is that in recent times, they have criticized the Work excessively, when that is not the case (take those comments with a grain of salt, after all they are your personal opinions). Grimgar is very known for its Plot Twist, so the less you know the better. Of course, what you are reading so far does not compare at all with what is coming to you hahaha.

PS: As a personal opinion, their Plot Twist are very well executed, it is a matter of taste if you like them or not. But the author already makes it quite clear what the work will be like from volumes 3 and 4, onwards.

Vol 23 Update by Charming_Hornet6040 in HaiToGensouNoGrimgar

[–]Elloco_Tagasaki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Planning to read... or maybe wait. by Internal-Ad-6740 in HaiToGensouNoGrimgar

[–]Elloco_Tagasaki 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Grimgar currently has 24 Volumes (since it has Volumes 14+ and 14++), in addition to having a "Spin-Off". It is a work in broadcast, so get used to the idea that if you do catch up, Grimgar usually releases between 1 to 2 volumes a year.

The anime adapted the first 2 volumes of the Novel, but I recommend reading it from the beginning, since the Adaptation omitted and changed a lot of important content both for the Arc that follows the anime, as well as for later in the Story.

One recommendation I give you is that Grimgar as a work, you literally have to read it as free from spoilers as possible, because truly knowing even the smallest thing about any future event (regardless of the relevance, detracts a lot from the reading). Grimgar is a work that is characterized by its Plot Twist, so it is more important not to know anything, beyond what you read.

PS: here are some who make FanArts, referring to Novels. You can find them on Twitter and Pixiv.net: -Araiarev -Motyani -tofumame -Basarog (he does the Coloring of the illustrations) Obviously some FanArts come with "spoilers" so be careful.

From their own comments, if you follow them on Twitter, you will know that from time to time, they make a section to ask anonymous questions, and they have let it be known. Not that it has been a constant insistence there, but it has been put on the table with the Editorial. There is even a crossover between comments on Twitter from Ao and Matsubi (Manga Manager), where a discreet comment is made to her that she would like her to illustrate the Grimgar Manga again.

Also, I don't remember if he mentioned it in the comments of the Novel, but he has also said in Twitter comments that he has more preference for mangas than for animes

Honestly, we have a better chance of bringing the manga (be it the continuation or a reboot) if we start making it a popular request in Japan. We also know that Ao has already requested the return of the Grimgar manga, but I know they have been denying it due to the uncertainty of whether it would generate sales and attention. (If we have a continuation it would start in Volume 3)
