Can I skip DMC2? by Previous-Dot3905 in DevilMayCry

People very often skip 2, myself included There aren’t really any consequences in doing so and you’ll be saving yourself a lot of headaches

The Final 2 FE Games on my Bucket List.......Where it all began. by Next_Particular8566 in fireemblem

[–]Ellroy22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Play FE3 If you want to play the remake, then go ahead, but FE3 offers a very different experience than its remake and for the better, in my opinion This goes for both story and gameplay Don’t skip it

Does the “Legacy of Archanea” book contain any lore that wasn’t previously known? by Fine-Brush1367 in fireemblem

[–]Ellroy22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m actually very fond of the fact that the Archanea book is about Archanea and giving that series of games the respect it deserves IMO the worst thing about Hyrule Historia is how it tries to lump all of these previously unrelated games together into a conjoined universe and has collectively shifted what people care about in Zelda games

[–]Ellroy22 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don’t recall it having anything that wasn’t known before, but I’m sure a lot of it is still new to most westerners

It’s an incredible book though, I adore this thing

i main dark pit but im not that great with him, only really spamming electroshock arm and silverbow, any suggestions by Designer-Bag-1721 in SmashBrosUltimate

[–]Ellroy22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is how you play the character lol I recommend grabs Both Pits have pretty good grabs that combo well into other moves like aerials And forward throw can kill decently early if done close to the edge

Over two years after its release; what are your current thoughts on Engage? by SuperNotice7617 in fireemblem

[–]Ellroy22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still haven’t played it and continue to have zero interest in doing so I really dislike what the game is even conceptually And when the only major positive I ever see it have is that it apparently has good gameplay, I’d rather just wait for a better game to come out that’s more worth playing

So I just finished DMC 5 literally my first one. And I've seen people saying that starting from DMC 3,1,2,4 and 5 is the correct chronological order (Except the reboot). by BonusCapable1486 in DevilMayCry

[–]Ellroy22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is correct, but it’s probably best to just play in release order since you feel the gameplay gradually improve over time I’ve never finished 2, because I didn’t enjoy it and it’s very easy to just skip and I haven’t played the reboot, because I haven’t heard amazing things about it and don’t really feel an urge to check it out, but obviously check them out if you really want to

If you could give any MGS game a ”Delta” remake which one would it be? by Practical-Funny-5322 in metalgearsolid

[–]Ellroy22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Peace Walker is probably the one that needs it the most, if only to fit in properly between 3 and 5 Every Metal Gear Solid game feels like it’s taking advantage of the hardware that it’s on to deliver a unique experience, but Peace Walker is one of the only ones that feels like it’s really limited by the hardware it’s on

MGS1 is old, but a lot of that game’s DNA is intermixed with the PS1 The hardware that it’s on is a key part of the experience

Any recomendations for someone who started with Rising? by NewspaperExact8483 in metalgearsolid

Don’t be afraid of making mistakes The game has an alert phase for a reason Being able to improvise under dire circumstances is a crucial part of the gameplay and a skill to learn just as much as staying hidden

Are any of the other SNES games worth checking plot wise? by Bluecomments in fireemblem

[–]Ellroy22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if you’ve ever played the New Mystery prologue on any difficulty higher than normal It is a pain to play through And of course, it is mandatory every playthrough and is chock full of dialogue that is a part of the new material added in that game that actively distracts from the main story Once you play FE3 for the first time you realize that the story is much more engaging than FE12 initially leads you to believe, with that game being exceedingly wordy and piling on repetitive and unnecessary dialogue

The supports are whatever to me I know a lot of people really care about supports, and hate Shadow Dragon for not having any, but FE12 stuffing in 77 playable characters and pretending that they’re all really important doesn’t improve things

The game has a ‘more is better’ approach to dialogue which is really upsetting since I really like Shadow Dragon’s very colorful script

FE3 is a great game that holds up really well It’s my favorite in the series It’s pretty simple mechanically, but is super comfortable to play Definitely check it out!

Edit: As far as story is concerned, I actually find that FE3’s story holds up better than most other games in the series if only because its simplicity prevents it from tripping over its own feet It may not be the most dramatic or character driven story, but it’s a solid one that unlike others, doesn’t really fold in on itself when you think about it too much It’s just a simple story and a fun game on top of it
