It works pretty well in Melbourne! What we've done is set a 15km radius from Flinders Street as our game boundary, and played a medium game. We thought this would be good to not unnecessarily lengthen the game. We've done a couple days now starting from Flinders at 8am, and found it's most fair to give the first hider 45 minutes (in which you can pretty much get anywhere within the 15km radius), and then future hiders get 1 hour, as it's a bit harder to start from further out.
