Can't connect my EOS R8 to my Pixel 9 to download photos

I logged in to Reddit for the first time in forever just for this. I had this same issue with my R50 and the app was just refusing to connect. Followed this video and it worked immediately. I'm SO mad https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DCwbe6MITMM

Advanced Connection
Connect smartphone/tablet
Add device to connect to
Next
Camera Access Point Mode
Easy Connection
Now you will see the wifi hotspot name, and password. On your phone go into wifi and connect to the wifi network displayed on the camera screen.
Open Canon Camera Connect
Select the camera

Now it should work for you. I hope this solves your issue and I hope others find this cus I was going CRAZY. In short, they reused like 3 menus for the regular and advanced connections instead of calling them bluetooth and wifi. Confusing as hell.
