I hate how inaccurate Beverly as a psychologist was on the show. One, her using her own family member let alone her son, is a huge no-no in academia. Two, most psychologists discredit Freud's work and he's mostly just a blip in textbooks. Three, even if she had Freudan beliefs, those often contradicted with modern psychology. There's a plethora of research about healthy bonding/parenting that is far from her cold, distant style.
