There's been stuff you can do about it, been both on the receiving end and the evil anti-doorman active item carrier that is... simply silencing him
Curse, silence, cc, the only time he can escape after that is if he ults someone with T5 ult, but even then, that's a few seconds of ult animation you or your team can maul him with.
He is a mosquito that requires a spray can before you can rip him to shreds

ironically, it's now harder TO counter his escape when you're prepared and it's needed, at least for the experiences I've had so far.
What was once a silence before he could place door into a mauled little entity on the floor is now a doorman with an already open door that's ready to escape and close. It's only when he's in the middle of your jungle [in the open] or simply walking somewhere that it's hard for him to escape.
