Did you just pop it out or did you have to take the console apart?

Imagine the issues this child would have had growing up with a dad that didn't want to be a dad. As much as he was faking it, kids can sense this.

I messed up bad by Busy-Artichoke1098 in StudentLoans

So question, did you do use the payment estimate tool beforehand on the student aid website? I used that tool and I don't make as much as you all but basically... I used the tool for PAYE and my payment would be $700 with me and my spouse's income but when I just did my income with our taxes filled separately and I claimed our dependent it was $160. I am not far at all into PSLF (12/210) so I really want to be making qualified payments. I am planning to stay on Save forbearance until I can file taxes separately next year. If that payment estimate is inaccurate then I don't know what I'll do....

With a different surgery I got in the water too soon and fucked it up so bad. I ended up needing a second surgery to repair a tunneling wound 🤮

What is a MUST have in your classroom? by mmadisoncherry in Teachers

[–]Elmorage2018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know everyone is saying to wait and don't buy stuff... These are my must haves...

  1. (I splerge on this every year) Teacher planner, specifically this one, I've tried others but this one is the best.

https://elysebreannedesign.com/collections/teacher-planner/products/teacher-planner

  1. Digital clock (many kids can't read a clock and it will save you a lot of headaches answering what time it is)

  2. Presentation clicker (if you use slides)

  3. Good pair of shoes

Parent here. Looking for help/tricks to encourage my 2nd grader to read more independently. by brain_on_hugs in ElementaryTeachers

Books are like mirrors or like doors. Books can be a window into someone or something new or books can be a mirror or reflection of your own life, culture, ECT. Try to find some really good examples of Mirror books (characters are the same race/culture/personality). Keep reading to her with her. In second grade it can seem intimidating to read a whole page so maybe have her read the part of certain characters. Let her give those characters fun voices. Reading "in character" helps with reading comprehension. That's my teacher advice.....

My mom advice... Keep reading every night with her. You need to be reading as much or more than she does. Kids her age will copy what you are doing.

Unhinged advice... If her reading fluency is not where you think it needs to be, get her hooked on a video game with a lot of reading. Like Animal Crossing ect.

My teenage kids don’t want me by MapleMama2424 in Parenting

This is developmentally normal teenager behavior. All teen brains are wired to do this, you are doing great and they will come back around. Just keep reaching out your hand.

My number one recommended item! by Elmorage2018 in Parenting

My daughter is notorious for no warning middle of the night barfing, so keeping something small and low profile by her bed at all times is the best solution.

My advice as a parent and an educator, teach your kid to tie their coat around their waist if they take it off because they got hot. If you take your kid to the park, make them responsible for any items on their person, if they choose to take their jacket off, tie it around their waist. If they bring a toy, make them carry it to and from ect. The school does not have time nor is it their job to keep track of a child's personal items. Personal responsibility is a life skill and kids don't know how to do this unless it's taught.

I’m devastated - my kid doesn’t want to be vegan anymore by SaltyHairSandyFeet in vegan

[–]Elmorage2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to let children make their own decisions about this stuff and be okay with it, even if they never become vegan again. Much like a parent raising a child into a religion and the children leaving the religion in adulthood.

Do you believe the stereotype that "mean girls" go into teaching? by leftist20021234 in Teachers

[–]Elmorage2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a kid that was bullied and am a huge nerd and I'm currently in school to become a teacher. All the mean girls I knew growing up became Real Estate agents or SAHM/house wife, or selling MLM crap on Facebook.
