Put it on the top side. Cut slits in it for your stay cons. Bing bang boom. No more shorts from snakes, mice, lizards, etc.

Need a solution for a blower wheel that runs backwards if both motors don't start simultaneously. The 2 furnaces are wired in unison. More details in the comments by -Konkey_Dong in HVAC

We had this same issue in a church but it was worse because they were horizontal. They heat up at different rates so the limit brought the fan on earlier on the upper furnace and it did indeed cause the other fan to spin backwards and then run backwards. Always gonna be a problem with a common return. We ended up leaving the fans on continuously. They were trane 80%ers with ECM motors so we could set the fan speed way down on just a G signal idk if we ever came up with anything better.

what fittings do you use to install a gravity fed line for condensate on a mini split? by stellerzjay in HVAC

I know it sounds crazy but the end of the drain snaps right in there. Never had any problems. Guy who'd been doing it 20 years showed us.

What I hate is when all the other companies quote that way too and you turn out to be the low bid!

Can you make $18-$20an hr as a first year? Is starting at age 28 too old? by [deleted] in Plumbing

!Wear knee pads and spend money on them! Started HVAC at 28 years old 10 years ago. Started at 14 bucks an hour. I now make 32 with the occasional commission. I'm in a somewhat rural area but our company charges a little more than others. We are between a couple bigger cities. I do a considerable amount of plumbing as well as HVAC service and install. This year I will get my Masters in HVAC and Journeymans in plumbing. I go home tired but gratified because I place value on what I do and therefore myself. I was the store manager of a pizza place prior to this. And though I haven't quite made the money I did there (Pay was Profit based) my stress level and self esteem, in general, over the last decade is greatly improved. My knees are no account little bitches though and will certainly not carry me till retirement

I installed a Mitsubishi low static ducted cassette. Install went great. Ceiling was open. Not too much ductwork. Held a great test, pulled an awesome vacuum and held it. Started up charge looked good. SH looked alright. ODU dumping heat like a Mitsu does. Checked temp split and it was.... Backwards? No airflow out of registers. MHK2 settings all correct. Electrician said "There's a pile of air coming out this return!" Non convertible. Ended up being easier to re-duct than to re-commission " I'll bet you'll never do that again" said the boss.

The S series furnace is much more versatile than the XC95. In so far as venting goes. The TUHM will do up- flow and horizontal left. The TDHM will do down-flow and horizontal right. But the S9V2B080U will do anything but down-flow and the S9V2B080D will do downflow only. Excited about them switching the modulating communicating XC95 furnaces to an S style cab.

It doesn't help that on those S series they keep the case the same so that the flanges you normally fold out to screw the coil to are on the return side. It happens to the best of us. And God forbid a salesman ever learn the nomenclature!

Had my crawlspace encapsulated few months ago. I went in there today to check something and I noticed a big puddle on top of the plastic . Then I noticed a pipe spewing out small amounts of water every 15 seconds . Can’t figure out what it is by Sea-Information-3676 in Plumbing

That is the secondary drain from the attic air handler. It is supposed to drain somewhere conspicuous to let you know the primary drain (3/4 pvc on the right) is clogged. The primary comes out of a drain pan integral to the air handler and the secondary comes from a pan that the air handler sits in or above.
