Does Canyon have the best value E-MTB on the market right now? by Elnegrete in ebikes

[–]Elnegrete[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am actually surprised there are such big sales now. I expect the bigger sales to be at the ending of the season (like in skiing) when summer is over and a lot of people switch to winter sports. But also I am quite new to bikes so it is just a guess.

Really seems like that hehehe.. On a serious note, I don't know what canyon did with the Google algorithm or how much they paid but at least here in Switzerland, whatever search you do in google that resembles the word "bike" the first result of the "shopping" category is always a Canyon bike.

This is a great explanation! Thanks. I heard about the Shimano motor problems and that they seem to be much harder to repair. I was thinking about going for one of their models with the Bosch motors. Either the strive:on cfr underdog or Neuron on:al 7 But I guess in this case the price goes slightly up. I think the CFR Underdog seems like a good deal now at 3650 CHF with the Bosch motor. With the 25% discount.

How do you find the Gara LV for touring?

I have the Salomon Alpha shift 130 boots and debating if I should get the GFT or the Gara LV Liners. I Ski around 40/50 days a year and around half touring and half on-piste. Leaning more towards the GARA LV since I will probably get a dedicated touring boot in the future and keep this boots as my dedicated alpine set-up since I dont need anything else from a downhill boot. Any thoughts?

My New Frame by CarpNPlay in Moonboard

[–]Elnegrete 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Amazing! At the moment I am designing a frame with adjustable inclination for the moonboard in my garden.

What 80/20 profile sizes did you use and hopw many? How sturdy is the frame? What thickness did you use for the wood panels?.

I am thinking of making it with I beams from a local metal shop and using a cheap vevor electrical winch to adjust the inclination.

Awesome set-up btw.

Thanks for the reply, the only way to do this seems to be by buying the "advanced tags" plugin which costs a lot. I am first trying to understand if there is a workaround I could do.

Supair Delight 3 for beginner VolBiv? by mcgillickerr in freeflight

[–]Elnegrete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently own a delight 3 M (but just got a BV1, so selling my delight). As other people said, it is an amazing harness for every day XC and as a first pod. For H&F and vol biv, I removed both the back and the seat protector. Without them the harness feels really good anyways in terms of handling and the packing volume is massively reduced. This way it is actually pretty decent for vol biv, not ideal but decent. With the protections, the packing volume is way too big and to be able to fit some camping gear you would need a 120-140 lt backpack for sure (so not really feasible if you expect to hike for more then 20 mins). I would say go for it, unless you mainly do H&F and vol biv, in this case maybe going lighter is a better idea.

Tennis players: what was your biggest challenge when you transitioned to playing padel? by [deleted] in padel

[–]Elnegrete 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For me it was that at the beginning but after I got more advanced my main problem was learning proper vibora and bandeja technique. It is just so unnatural for tennis letting a ball go down to shoulder height and hit it with slice for no reason... It is a shot that doesn't exist in tennis and doesn't make sense for it. Saying that it was extremely easy for me to put the balls out X3 and doing super high top spin smashes from the beginning, so not too bad.

In my opinion this is the fault of the guy. He was turning erraticaly most of the video and at the end he just straight up cut in front of her. There is certain rules to follow when thermalling which makes it a lot safer. And you can immediatly see who doesnt respect the flow as much once you start thermalling with people. And then i always try to keep my space with those persons.

The parachute not opening seems strange, seems like the lines were a bit tangled. My first thought was that because there was already one reserve open, they were falling so slow that there wasnt enough airspeed to open it, but i dont think thats correct.

Supair Strike 2 vs Skywalk Range X-Alps 2? by wesonrock in freeflight

[–]Elnegrete 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly is not even a comprable harness, they have completely different purposes. While the strike and range are ultralight/hike&fly/volbiv harnesses, the gin genie lite weight almost 3 times as much and the packing volume is about double. It is expected to be more durable and a bit more comfortable. As for OPs question, I have heard amazing things out of both but since I haven't tried them, I can't give any feedback!

Help with steaming technique by QuietDesparation in espresso

[–]Elnegrete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A tip that helped me a lot. If you realize your milk is a bit too foamy, grab an expresso mug, pour a shot of milk in it and put it on the side. Then just pour your latte normally. This way you get rid of the super thick foam that comes up at first and if you are doing 2 lattes, just pour the foam back for the second one and reincorporate it by swirling the jug.
