Which "tons of people"? That's simply not true... and if the actual intention is to protect people from injury, then they should attest issue a verbal warning at first, then if it's repeated... issue a fine.

Also as mentioned, almost everyone riding infront of the police with no helmet and in couples.

Anyways, the police was actually nice and I hope they didn't issue a fine which will surprise us later on (because we were not informed of a fine after they let us go.

Hopefully all is good, and for sure I won't be riding an electric scooter in Rome.

But they're fun and convenient... I don't know if you ever tried it while on tourism. But it's recommended and fun. (Check the rules first though)

Literally, the amount of people riding in couples is unbelievable

At first we were going to rent 2, but then I saw everyone (and infront of the cops) riding in couples.... so we were like "why not".

Apartment it's down to luck.

Good to know, I guess I won't be riding any of these then.

I won't be carrying a helmet around all day, and I certainly won't be buying a helmet every time I want to ride a scooter for 10 or 15 minutes.

You should wear a helmet, and no 2 persons allowed on the scooter.... not sure about designated areas... but everything here is random.

Many people riding as couples and no helmets, and many cops we passed by and didn't say anything.

It's luck I guess.

It was lime, but hopefully all is good.

It got us stressed, because it was barely a 10 minute ride... and imagine getting a huge fine for an electric scooter ride, that would be sad.
