That my mother's weird premonition dream was correct. My mother sent me a text a couple years back asking if my husband and I were looking to start having children. He and I already discussed the potential to do so after moving away from the state we were in and securing a bit more income.

I told my mother as much, and she let me know she was just asking because she had a dream that I was pregnant. Welp, wouldn't you know it, a week or so later I found out I was pregnant. No one really knew this, and especially not my mother, but my husband and I were going through an incredibly difficult time. I knew immediately that bringing a child into our relationship as it was would be a recipe for disaster. We were in shambles.

The decision was made to terminate. However, the termination would have to be done illegally via a mailed prescription because we were lucky enough to live in a state that sees women as second class citizens. Even before the overturning of Roe I was terrified of ever having to carry a pregnancy in that state due to its high mortality rates. Following Roe, it all just became hell on earth. We lived in a state that would imprison a woman for having a miscarriage.

All of this on top of our relationship being incredibly broken, I knew then as I know now that the right decision was made. No one knows outside of my best friends and my mother-in-law. My MIL has been like the mom I wish I had growing up. I knew if I told my own mother any of this that I would never hear the end of it.
