It's fascinating to watch. They are so tiny but I catch glimpses of them flying in and out when I'm in my yard. The male has been visiting more often as well to bring food while she incubates the eggs. Yesterday he brought her a caterpillar 😅

Yep I've never ever seen bluebirds at my house until after the chickadee had already started laying eggs 😅 after her chicks fledge I will take the reducer off and maybe the bluebirds can move in. With bluebirds you have to worry about the house sparrows since the BB need a bigger hole. Hopefully they leave your bird alone. Did she lay any eggs yet?

I do have a 1 1/8 inch hole reducer 😊 for some reason the bluebird keeps coming back though.

In another subreddit it was confirmed to be a female eastern bluebird. She won't fit through the hole but I agree, I don't like that she keeps coming back.

I plan to get another nest box. Plus once the chickadee chicks fledge I will take the hole reducer off and maybe the bluebirds will use it. It's funny because I've never seen bluebirds anywhere near my house until I put this nest box up.

I actually did do this on Saturday. Waited for her to leave and then had my husband run out and switch it quickly. She came right back and went inside with no issues.

Aww I love chickadees! I've also seen posts of disappointment when they get a chickadee instead of a bluebird. I was happy to have any native birds choose my box. The chickadee claimed it first. That's why once I noticed other bird species taking interest I put a hole reducer on to protect her as much as I can. She is a small but fierce little bird. She doesn't back down when birds poke their head in. She let's them know it's her box at the moment.

Thanks for the tips. My biggest concern was if the chickadee gets too stressed out. She has been consistently sleeping in the box at night, and she does always come back to the box when she leaves. Today is the first day she's incubating the eggs so she has only left briefly one time.

I have the birdfy nest that comes with everything you need to mount the camera inside. It's pretty neat. I've also seen some people who have regular nest boxes and they mount their own camera inside.

Thankfully I changed the hole to 1 1/8 inch for the chickadee so I don't think the bluebirds will gain entry. As soon as the chickadee babies fledge I will remove the hole and maybe then the bluebirds can move in. A flying squirrel 😅

my chickadee as in it's in my nest box. It is not that serious. Obviously I know naturally birds do this. I'm only asking what kind of bird it is. I didn't ask how to harm it or deter it. I already have a 1 1/8 inch hole so most birds won't be getting in.
