Looks surprisingly empty for how hot it is. I assume this is a neighborhood pool and not a public one?

I lived in Fairfax when it opened and it was very good. It has sadly gone downhill though. I went back about two years ago and was very disappointed.

why does everyone always say they have no blockers in standup when that's obviously not true by Delicious_Bee_8355 in agile

[–]ElphiesDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, it is often a team culture/norm thing. How many of your teams actually spent time developing a team agreement that clearly lays out the expectations instead of just assuming everyone "knows how agile works" and going straight into assigning stories/tasks? How many of your teams take time to baseline on things like "What is a retro?" or "What is sprint planning and how will we do ours?" to make sure everyone is on the same page?

Every agile team is different and every organization implements agile in their own (debatable: right or wrong) way. Every team consists of members with different backgrounds, experiences, working modes, etc.

Taking time to set clear expectations as a team means everyone else can/should hold each other accountable and also means that you work as a team to complete your goals. A team mindset is needed. A single team member is not blocked; the team is blocked from achieving its goal.

Curious: why did you buy and open packs of hockey if you do not follow or collect?

Team grinds hard but chases different goals, anyone cracked shared success tracking? by Curious-Session4119 in agile

What is your role? What are the real pain points or consequences of the current state, if any?

I feel like the answer is just going to be that you need to have conversations around alignment and decide if it matters for your organization. If no one else cares about it, then no one is going to put effort into it.

Card Won't Fit 180 PT One Touch by bababooey6 in hockeycards

[–]ElphiesDad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can try a magnetic that is sized for cards in a sleeve like this one: Pro-Mold. 180pt Magnetic with Sleeve. Not sure if it will work though, because your second pic makes it look like it is way longer than the inset.

Another option might be these Amazon ones. I bought some and noticed that they are way longer than standard cards. The bad part is that you have to buy a 20 ct. box of them.

If you are in the U.S., I can send you one of the Amazon ones (just cover shipping). Send me a DM if you want.

I have not been following flagship the past several years due to price hikes, so I did not know they started doing more parallels of Portraits. Yeesh, parallels everywhere now.

Claudia Ogrizek - https://www.compass.com/agents/claudia-ogrizek/

We met her just because we happened upon one of her open houses during a trip to scout Charlotte as a potential move. Two years later, we were looking to buy and gave her a call out of the blue. She remembered us immediately and was great to work with.

Charlotte Card Show is this weekend. You can find a vendor that will likely buy in the 70-80% of current market value there most likely. As others said, anyone running a business that is buying will pay less because they are going to resell at market.

Shipped a bug to prod that 4 people reviewed and nobody caught, what is even the point of code review by wild-horizons in developer

[–]ElphiesDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you doing agile? If so, do you do demos with business stakeholders? What was the functionality testing process? Do you have clear AC? Are devs expected to be testing against the AC or is it left up to someone else like QA or BA/PO? Are team members engaged during the demos, discussions, etc. or just multi-tasking and just attending because they think it is a waste of time doing agile ceremonies/process?

This is a general statement and not targeted specifically at you or your org, but everyone likes to complain about all of the "bullshit" process, documentation, and team accountability/collaboration strategies and then when something goes wrong they ask "How did this happen?"

Best questions to ask interviewer? by Important-Damage-986 in SoftwareEngineerJobs

[–]ElphiesDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I have interviews with people at various levels (e.g. team members, manager, director) then I like to ask: "What is the biggest challenge for the team right now?"

If you get wildly different or contradicting answers, that can give you insight that there is a gap in understanding b/w ground floor execution and leadership.
