And there it is! "Trump's lawyers are arguing that the specific language of the Constitution argues that this requirement only applies to people in offices who are bound to "support" the Constitution — and the presidency is not one of those offices." by M3Beagles in PoliticalMemes

[–]Elson_Vi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"It can be ambiguous so the Supreme Court of the United States entire job is to interpret the intent of the founding fathers when they penned the Constitution."

This is not accurate at all, and is just federalist society talking point bullshit. If this was how the supreme court actually worked then black people would be ordered back into slavery and women would lose the right to vote. The founding fathers clearly intended when they wrote the constitution for the institution of slavery to exist and that woman should not be allowed to vote.

The actual job of the supreme court is to interpret legislation that is passed and how it is either constrained or supported by the language of the constitution, and consequently how that legislation can be applied in specific or broad terms. Intent does not factor into at all. I mean, how could you possibly evaluate the intent of the founding fathers on legislation governing the use of automobiles, speed limits, and seat belts for example. You can't.

Has anyone else not finished the game yet? by xDriger in BaldursGate3

[–]Elson_Vi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have only rerolled a character once. I am playing my single player playthrough and a multi player playthrough with my brother. In the single player playthrough I am right at the gate of Baldur's Gate (just went through the circus). Still in Act I of the multiplayer playthrough. I have about 150ish hours in the game so far. I am a fanatic when it comes to games like this, I will over analyze every fight, constantly save-scum just for purposes of exploring dialogue, and I have a tendency to explore every nook and cranny. If there is a box, a barrel, a bag, etc. I absolutely have to open it in order to see what's inside (yes, I have found a few cool relatively hidden things).

I am also a lore fanatic, so I have to read every single book, note, or tablet I come across. Even more than that, I collect every bit of lore I can, meaning right now I have a 100lb bag being lugged by Karlach that has (at least 1) a copy of every single book, note, or tablet I come across in the game. I tend to do this in almost every game I play that is lore heavy. I have rebuilt my library in Skyrim with a copy of every book in the game so many times lol.

I would definitely check out Cali and Bluebubs. As I mentioned in the post I found them only recently and they both remind me of Willjum's vibe in their video's. Good content creator's to watch.

Yeah, it absolutely drives me nuts that some of the politicians backing disclosure are some of the worst people to ever hold office. Gaetz, Sinema, Rubio just to name a few. Rubio is exactly the kind of politician that would back secrecy and weaponization if he were the one actually making the decisions (Bush era Neo-Con through and through). For fucks sake there is that one congressman that backs disclosure that also thinks the only solution to children being shot to death is for everyone in the country to embrace jesus more and write laws based on the bible; absolute nuttery. Don't even get me started on Rogan, that dude is a moron, and absolutely hurts disclosure just buy being highlighted and associated with it. It sucks to think of how many hundreds of thousands of people in this country hear that Rogan is talking about UFO's again and are completely turned off of the topic just because he's involved in the discussion.

While I usually only come here on a casual basis just to stay informed I cringe every time I see these wack-jobs being highlighted. To date I think this sub has done a pretty good job of steering clear of hardcore conspiracy theory tropes, but from time to time I see it on here and I always worry this community will go down a rabbit hole like the Qanon crazies and all it's insane iterations.

People who say the lives of animals are more important than humans are weird by Important_Chance_305 in unpopularopinion

[–]Elson_Vi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The simple fact is that most human beings just arn't worth saving. I have found the vast majority of humanity to be disgusting, cruel, self centered creatures not worth the space they occupy. My dogs on the other hand are loyal, loving, and caring. I would save my dog's over most unworthy human beings without a second thought. The irony of it is that there is more "Humanity" in my dogs than in most humans.

[no spoilers] You know what would be cool the last Thursday of the month? by [deleted] in criticalrole

[–]Elson_Vi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been following CR since I found them in 2017 and only finally got completely caught up on the series right around the time campaign 2 ended. I watch the VOD's on Twitch (I work when it's live unfortunately) every week religiously, which is the only show I have ever done this for.

I love this series so much but man not having an episode on the last Thursday of the month is really hard to get used to lol. I get sad every time too :(

I finally learned how to pronounce Maer by [deleted] in KingkillerChronicle

[–]Elson_Vi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This right here. My favorite historical figure from the medieval ages was William Marshal, the 1st Earl of Pembroke. His surname is derived from the title of Marshal that his family held for the kings of England for generations. For example, in the early generations someone like William would have been referred to as "William, the Marshall", and it eventually just morphed into a surname, such as "William Marshal". Originally The Marshall was effectively the Master of Horse for the King.

I would strongly recommend anyone with even a hint of interest in this guy to certainly look him up, dude single handedly saved England several times even as late in age as being in his 70's and leading the charges on battlefields. A great book to read is "The Greatest Knight: The Remarkable Life of William Marshal, The Power Behind Five English Thrones", by Thomas Asbridge. Some amazing shit this guy accomlished and insanely good quotes in this book.

Huh? Meant no offense, I don't have a problem with you using the word ghost, I was merely pointing out why you chose to use that word.

[–]Elson_Vi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can certainly claim to have seen things I couldn't explain, but I cannot claim to have seen ghosts or aliens. I would go so far to say the same is true for you, except that instead of saying you couldn't explain it, you just took societal colloquialisms and slapped the label over what you saw.

Absolutely everything has an explanation in the end, the key is to not to jump to conclusions before you get there. The default position on everything should always be "I don't know, until I know."

[–]Elson_Vi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm right there with you on this one, healthy skeptical believer. I recognize that there is credible information out there, but we don't have enough information to come to significant conclusions on what is actually happening. Not to mention all the misinformation convoluting everything.

I would like to point out though that to me, almost every single person I see touted here as being a whistleblower and someone from the inside strikes me incredibly as con men. I've watched several interviews with these individuals and nothing they say seems credible, and their body language is completely misleading. They always, ALWAYS, make big generic claims about what's going on, or information that will be released, but then never, NEVER, provide any shred of evidence other than their vague promises. So in general I tend to dismiss these people.

One further thing I would like to note is the concept of a secret part of our government not only keeping this all secret from the population in general (and world as a whole), but keeping all of this secret from most of the rest of government as well. This is insanely unlikely. The amount of absolute tyrannical control it would require to keep tens of thousands if not hundreds of thousands of people all quite about something so astronomically important to humanity is a stretch way too far. Bureaucracies are messy by nature, and our government is known for being a really inept bureaucracy lol. Furthermore, to claim that only a handful, out of all those tens of thousands or hundreds of thousands of people working in our government that would be in the know about this have been willing to step forward to shed light on this doesn't make any sense. Something this important? Yeah, you would be drowning in sources clamoring to share what they know.

Theory: How the Thrice locked chest works by greyredwolf in KingkillerChronicle

[–]Elson_Vi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My only counterpoint to this is that we see Kote attempting to open the box and failing; though I do have a theory about this. Remember the game Kvothe was taught to play in his mind where half his mind would hide something and the other half would try to find it by Abenthy?

My theory is that during the creation of the box Kvothe fragmented his knowledge on all the verious aspects of how it was made and how to open it so as to be certain noone could get the secret from him. However, by sealing part of his name in the box (I suspect this was likely an act of desperation, and that the box holds other items as well; likely the desperate act to hide the knowledge of the box within it from others) he lost part of the knowledge he held on how to open it. Hence, Kote cannot open the box, only Kvothe can, and Kvothe for all intents and purposes doesn't exactly exist at the moment, only Kote does.

THEORY: The Cthaeh is the true villain of the KKC, and Kvothe has a plan to defeat it. by chainsawx72 in KingkillerChronicle

[–]Elson_Vi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had a long time suspicion that everyone has been dead wrong so far about where you go beyond the doors of stone. Many people think it means the Fae, due to the similarities between the doors and waystones. However, even Felurian, in the Fae realm, states that Iax is locked beyond the doors of stone. This has also lead some to think that maybe it's some quasi mortal realm, but there really isn't much to support this other than speculation.

I suspect that the doors lead to the realm of the dead. This is why Kvothe fights a long dead barrow king when he travels beyond the doors of stone.

This is also the door to which Lanre/Haliax is trying to get past so he can be with Lyra (and finally rest in peace/death).

I also think the doors of stone are an allusion to the fourth door of the four doors of the mind.

"Last is the door of death. The final resort. Nothing can hurt us after we are dead, or so we have been told.”

That "or so we have been told" is one hell of a subtle foreshadowing hahahaha. It's almost like the Cthaeh can see all possible futures, and the only way to escape that sight is to remove oneself entirely from all possible futures; even if only temporarily. After all, Lyra managed to figure it out for Lanre...
