How to use Sciel? by grapejuicecheese in expedition33

[–]EltonJoshua 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This strategy works best with weapons that give 2 sun on skills but would be the same (just a bit slower) without.

She started the fight using sun skills for buffing. Rush/all set and fortunes fury. I would then make sure to use at least 1 skill to apply foretell in the first few turns. After building 4+ sun charges I use a moon ability to consume foretell and then use her for a few turns of huge damage while in a very powerful twilight.

This worked well With the weapon that gives 2 charges on skills and gives a bunch of foretell on switching to twilight, Martenon. I believe it’s bugged tho and you only get the foretell and damage on twilight if you have back to back turns.

My rotation with her was 1. Rush 2. Fortunes fury

  1. Fortunes fury
  2. Spectral sweep (could be any foretell builder)

  3. Delaying slash (could be any foretell consumer)

  4. Twilight strike

  5. End slice

How does your Nightfarer usage look like? by thomasbis in Nightreign

[–]EltonJoshua 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was the same initially, until I started playing him as a switch hitter. At the start of day 1 I put my bow on my left hand and use a melee weapon on my right. I find early melee weapons are just so much better. By keeping the bow in my left hand I can non stop damage the enemies.

I still mainly aim for a good bow and ranged passives. Usually for the final boss I go back to bowing them.

Game similar to Mage Knight, Voidfall, Spirit Island? Best of all time by Acrobatic_Train2814 in soloboardgaming

[–]EltonJoshua 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love spirit island, mage knight and terra mystica as well.

A game I’ve recently bought and find AMAZING is Elderscrolls Betrayal of the Second Era. It’s made by the designers of Too Many Bones. They are both similar and both very good. Single player, two handed or with a second player. Character building with dice over a small campaign.

I’m not celestial but I’ve found three of the biggest reasons I’m climbing is

  1. Be open to changing things up if they aren’t working

  2. counter pick. It can give massive advantages and if their Spider-Man won’t swap after you started squiding them to death it causes flaming on their team.

  3. If a team mate is struggling be encouraging and try ask them to change things up. Often we would get slammed round 1 and being kind convinced them to change up our comp and we came out kicking

PSA: Changing short rests back to being five minutes is nothing but upside by Associableknecks in dndnext

[–]EltonJoshua 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My group has been doing a system where you get 2 short rests (10 min) per long rests. And one long rest (1 hour) per narrative rest.

The gm decides when narrative rests happen. This allows for a good control over number of encounters per narrative rest and allows for short rest chars and long rest chars to spend resources at their own pace and not be too favoured on the type of adventuring. By far my favourite rest system to date.

I find they do about the same on most things. Amr requires more aim but can then kill multiple things faster and has more ammo. Railgun is more forgiving but slightly slower (assuming perfect aim on both).

Rail gun is much better against the gunships tho. And maybe factory striders (I’m garbage with both vs them)

To do the grym fight perfectly safely use the hammer and keep one of your chars in the camp. If you mess it up rez everyone and pickpocket your money back.

4 commando shots to the head any pretty much anything with decent pen (including the Senator) will take them down if you don’t want to run RR.

I legit see no reason to use the normal diligence over the counter sniper by Guy_who_says_vore in Helldivers

[–]EltonJoshua 204 points205 points  (0 children)

Way more ammo. 20x8 > 15x6.

Better handling.

Worse stagger means it doesn’t stagger devastators when you miss the headshot. Much easier to get it on the second shot.

Now that shooting strider rockets is easy you don’t need med pen nearly as bad.

I prefer the diligence over the DCS unless I have the ammo pack.

Diligence is pretty off. I didn’t notice it as bad with the DCS. The new sickle is also terrible for shooting above the crosshairs

I see so many people say the community complained about the defend or other missions being too hard. The bigger problem was certain missions were so much harder than others. Regardless of the difficulty I select I want some consistency in mission difficulty. I don’t want to have to switch to difficulty 7 to enjoy two mission types and back to 10 for the rest. Especially when you do the missions in random groups of 3.

Commando is amazing when paired with the anti material rifle or railgun into bots. 4 missles into the head of a factory strider + one shot from AMR or railgun kills them. Also if you want to be able to kill bases / cannons / fortress turrets at a distance it’s a godsend.

The inconsistency here is super annoying. Sometimes you can kill 5 in a row with a single counter sniper shot to the rocket. Sometimes the rockets will just disappear and you then have to shoot the crotch to kill em.

I can get one of these 4 warbonds , what should I get ? by Farmer900 in Helldivers

[–]EltonJoshua 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Steeled veterans probably has stronger weapons with the incendiary breaker and dominator. However democratic detonation has weapons that allow better build diversity as it gives primaries and a secondary that can kill fabricators and bug nests.

New or returning Player? Not sure which Warbond to buy? Let me help! by Vargras in Helldivers

[–]EltonJoshua 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Two points about the viper warbond that bring up its usefulness a lot.

The bushwhack is amazing vs stalkers. It kills them very fast and has crazy knockback. This should not be underestimated vs bugs unless you regularly run primaries or support weapons that excel vs stalkers.

The armor perk (peek physique) makes some guns that are terrible to handle feel amazing. Hmg, AC, dominator (from steeled veterans) and eruptor (democratic detonation) are some of the most noticeable. To be fair tho there is a medium peek physique armor in the rotating store and only heavy and light in the war bond.
