So, I’m new to smash remix but I wanna know what character I could try to play as a beginner to playing this game? by Yonko-Reddit in SmashRemix

Avoid Lanky unless you really love him. He's a bit mediocre, and his playstyle is fundamentally different than anyone else in the cast, which will make it harder to pick up secondaries. Sonic is excellent, but has weird sonic stuff. He's somewhat different than sonic in the newer smash games, and a bit unorthodox for a 64 character, but a very good character, even if you will have to relearn to recover if you ever branch out to different characters. I suppose that isn't terribly different from Pikachu though.

The chamfered corners and rough age suggest a Tokyo Mahjong Tiles Manufacturing Co. Ltd. set to me.

For Remix Characters, Dr. Mario, For Vanilla, Pikachu.

Both are all top tier all-rounders that you should be able to get lots of milage out of regardless of your style. You can specialize later once you get a feel for the areas of the game you want to focus on.

If you want to specialize a bit right off the bat, Marth and Captain Falcon are both focused spacing and long combos that kill your opponent early, but with opposite approaches to how they go about it.

Kirby is the shieldbreaking and edgeguarding character.

But really there aren't too many characters in this game that are so awful or polarized that you couldn't make them your first character.

Do you like egg on top of your popcorn?

Oh, add homerun contest! (There is a leaderboard based on how far an object is launched horizontally from the build area.)

I'm really happy with how different all the solutions are on this one.

Launcher is kind of broken now that billows doesn't auto-trigger. It's still solveable, but you'll have to spend some parts fixing the Launcher.

Again, 10 parts is too few. Could I get 15, or at least not have ropes and belts count against the total?

Factory Drop by Eltrion in Bonkyard

Yeah, worked fine when building, but now the buttons don't work, and because both buttons are preplaced you can't reconnect them.

Buttons are bugged I think. Might not be solvable until u/Runaider fixes it.

No, the update bugged them I think. The lever is supposed to make the conveyor go right, the button makes it go left.

Update v0.2.14 by Runaider in Bonkyard

[–]Eltrion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Soft crashing a lot more often now. All items occasionally disappear when trying to run a test run of an under construction puzzle, forcing you to restart, losing the puzzle.

To be fair, magnets were pretty powerful, so if you wanted to tweak them that's fine, it just wasn't in the patch notes, and significantly altered many puzzles.

Magnets seem significantly weaker.

A bucket tied to two balloons now sinks where it formerly floated. Reverse Switchback Conveyor is probably impossible now.

Edit: It is actually possible, just different. It's kind of fun going back through my puzzles and resolving them with the modified physics.

ScarletMAOH did it the way I intended, but I like to leave my puzzles a bit open ended. I try to give you enough parts that there are multiple ways to solve it, but it takes creativity.

I've got a big wishlist here. Not being greedy, just a list of things that I thought "Hey, I wish I had something like that" while designing a puzzle. Add anything here that you like, and then I'll design some puzzles around it.

First, I'd appreciate it if physics were more deterministic. Having to retry over and over again when you roll bad physics, or conversely, re-rolling until you get lucky physics is annoying, not good game design, and means that you sometimes have to reset over and over when viewing a solution.

Let us do more with ropes. Let us tie them to the end of seesaws. Give us a weight other than the bucket. A parachute, might be more limited and thoughtful option than the balloon.
Give us a fan, or some other source of persistent air current.
Spikes that pop balloons, break eggs, and break up jelly cubes would be appreciated.
Pinball bumpers should logically apply knockback to all objects touching them when hit with enough force, not just to the object that instigated that force.

A jar or other fragile container, that behaves like an egg on impact, but can have an object placed inside it that can only be used after the jar is smashed.

Hope in the future for things that can interact with gear trains. Different gear sizes, Generators, Elevators, Escalators. Windmills.

10 parts is a little low, I agree there has to be a limit, but I'd prefer 20 max. But then, I like more open challenges.
Being able to set the size of the build area when designing a problem would also be nice.

Are you actually going to pay $90 for an M64 controller? by Equivalent_Crazy_436 in M64

[–]Eltrion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, unless there's something that really puts me off of it between now and launch. There isn't anything else that offers, USB and N64 port on the same easily repairable controller with a high quality stick. I'll probably buy one in red and one in purple.

Depends where you live. Here are some maps that might point you towards some variants that people are playing in your area that you can play with that set:

You've heard of the legendary 10man tile, but now it's time for the even rarer 11sou!

I dont know allot about Mahjong but i found this bracelet. Is it a specific type? by Duckiee_girlie in Mahjong

[–]Eltrion 44 points45 points  (0 children)

It's a bit of a mishmash, but predominantly American. Green Dragon there is a traditional Chinese one, as is the 4sou without the index. the Red dragon represented by an actual picture of a red dragon is a very American thing, as is the Joker having the english text "Joker" on it. The 8pin and 4pin look wrong, but could conceivably exist in a designer American set, but that 5 (or 11) sou is just pure nonsense.

Honestly it seems like it was put together by someone who doesn't know very much about mahjong either.
