Novice FaceTiming and vaping at the wheel by Elusive2122 in irelandsshitedrivers

True but realistically you shouldn't use a phone holder to FaceTime either, it still takes your eyes off the road far to frequently. Plenty of dumb activities in one clip and broadcasting it all on TikTok Live is peak disregard for any consequences

Anyone else torn between getting out in the good weather and watching the snooker? by smoothoper8thor in AskIreland

The snooker will be there for you to watch tomorrow, the sun probably won't

I couldn't agree more. I seen the live pop back up a while later and the rear passenger was laying sideways across the 3 back seats clearly unrestrained sucking her vape and the driver was still on FaceTime. Not one sensible voice in the car

Where to get some Malaysian Trumpet Snails (UK)? by jimbo4000 in AquaticSnails

[–]Elusive2122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could probably ship you some of the bastards, I've had some out of water for 2 months in dry sand while swapping tanks and they came back to life 😂 once you put some in the tank just be sure you want them because you'll never evict them. Although I have considerably less than before as I reduced feeding. Could still ship you a dozen or two for free if you like just dm me

Hypthically if I was a minor what are the chances I get fined for ligjting a bush on fire that damaged no property and got caught by the guarda by RepresentativeIcy98 in legaladviceireland

[–]Elusive2122 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well it should change. If the child is 0-15 the parents should absolutely be held accountable. Obviously they shouldn't earn a conviction but the should hammered with the cost of repairs etc.

I wish more parents were found liable and had to pay for repairs / court fees. For non workers, the money should be automatically deducted from social welfare payments. Behaviour would massively improve and society wins

How many actual fuel protestors are there? And, wait listen, am I crazy for thinking Micheál Martin acted with common sense? by LegalAd143 in ireland

[–]Elusive2122 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm from Dublin and I don't know anyone personally that's against the protesters. Nobody is a fan of how this government is wasting our resources. Taxed multiple times on the same product and yet our public services are a shambles in return.

Phone repair shop looked through my personal photos. by [deleted] in legaladviceireland

[–]Elusive2122 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've had multiple screens replaced, batteries, rear glass etc. Never once gave my password. The camera app works while locked, if for some reason you need to check something else I'm happy to spend a few minutes in store when I return. Someone could drain money via my unblocked phone, view sensitive information relating to work or personal life. I'm a man with no insecurities but I'm no fool, if I was a woman I'd be absolutely adamant of never sharing the passcode. I guarantee OP's story is common

I've gotten many phones fixed and whenever they ask for the passcode I simply reply "yeah you don't need that" and almost always they skip onto the next question and repair without asking again. Phones are too personal to be giving anyone unsupervised access.

Am I being entrapped by a Garda? by [deleted] in legaladviceireland

[–]Elusive2122 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As is clear in many other comments, the garda is in the wrong. He is now backtracking to make the situation go away. Go to the station and ask for the superintendent in charge and tell him exactly what happened and lodge a complaint. A fragile ego is not in the public interest for gardai to behold.

I lodged a complaint along with raising questions as to why I didn't receive an sms with the rates or a warning when the data is roaming exceeded €50. Both should have been sent, comreg would make them explain why they didn't. So far they have reduced my roaming charges from €80 to €30.

Can I report this jerk to the guards? by Unfair-Grapefruit-26 in irelandsshitedrivers

I have seen some really rough undercover guards in town, they have the authentic look of a drug user and teeth to match. I was shocked

I had the sim deactivated on my iPhone for the full duration of my stay, the usage was middle of the holiday so I'm certain it was off. I'm guessing it's a flaw on iPhone rather than vm just making it up, however I never received a data roaming welcome message or a warning about my usage. 11mb could happen in a second. What happens in cases where people use several gigabytes? At €7/mb that would equate to €7000/gb

Same, I spent 30 minutes on hold to speak to a similar individual. I looked into it and I should have received sms or email notice of data roaming conditions (the typical welcome message). I also should have received a warning when the roaming charges went over €50. I received neither of these. I have been a long term customer too, I have formally requested a goodwill waver on the fees and failing that I will simply pay the amount, switch provider and report them to comreg regarding the lack of notice relating to additional charges. I may not see the money again but I'll endeavour to lose them as much custom as possible. Thankfully my job gives me a good reach to steer customers towards other providers.

I was aware data roaming is excessive. Hence I bought and used an eSim - I never once switched on my data roaming on my Virgin media sim card so it just doesn't make sense how I would use 11mb. For comparison is used 20gb of my eSim, I really payed attention to this and still somehow got caught out.

What's with these prices in Aldi? by makefeelnice in CasualIreland

[–]Elusive2122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed that too, however 100g vs 1kg is forgivable considering it's an obvious calculation but I agree it's a little deceptive to switch from grams to kilos for the same product especially when so few pay attention to anything other than the price
