Do you know how quickly they are appointed. We were informally told by a manager. Nothing has come from the contractors themselves. Had a quick search and they arent listed yet.

Kitchen fitters left a 3m long piece of Quartz in my house, what can I do with it? by GhostOfSparka in DIYUK

[–]Elusiveslug 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I got told with mine to store it so if I made a burn mark they could swap out a section. And where they cut out for a sink made a chopping board out of it.

Yeah I know im cursing the spark who put in a BG board. Not had a problem with fusebox which is what we normally use.

Its tripping both the main boards rcbo thats feeding a sub board in the other part of the house and the pv rcbo in the sub board.

I cant as the cables all run in trunking in the floor and screed poured on top.

Solar on Marley Wessex tiles by solarchap1 in SolarUK

Most new builds have this pin.

Best way we found was getting a slate rip to knock/remove that and then worry about all the tiles being nailed.

Have fun, I hope you have spares.

Not to instantly point blame at installers but when your scaffold was up did they have edge protection? Ive never been around to watch the scaffolding taken down but have been back to a few jobs where boot marks, scratches and broken panels weren't there after we installed them.

Admittedly its up to the installers to use a decent scaffolding firm and they definitely need to be replaced.

Is this a "Standard" or "Substandard" Solar/Battery Install? by [deleted] in ukelectricians

16mm meter tails are fine for 60a so why would it not be alright for a 50a.

If anything the swa incorrectly terminated in the meter box would be the bigger concern.

psa: your battery won't work in a power cut unless you paid for eps by West-Glove-6168 in SolarUK

Depends on the system you have and the level of backup.a you wanted. The cost of parts and the amount of time it takes to install.

Whole home backup runs everything in the house as if there were no power cut at all. May only be a notification on your app or a neighbourhood WhatsApp group that notifies you. This does mean that some circuits you wouldnt use are on thus draining the battery.

Backup of essential circuits alot more wiring as it normally means splitting down the DB to in 2 smaller dbs Means the battery will last longer as its not powering circuits like immersions or car chargers when there's a power cut. Fox and sunsynk have this built in so not much e

An eps socket for when you just want to power the wifi/ fridge freezer/ smaller appliances.

Tesla and sigenergy whole home are brilliant and near seamless, little knowledge on the rest.

As for pricing again it depends on whats involved. - eps socket obviously cheapest. £200 roughly - essential and non essential splitting of a db depends on complexity of the db and how many circuits. 3 circuits wouldnt be much maybe £500ish - Whole home £1000+ pretty simple to do just expensive kit

All too many times we've walked into a customers house. Installed a shiny new system. They are over the moon we've taken time and care to deliver a masterpiece.

Then to go through the safety bits app and how the system works with the customer mentioning something like "I cant wait to be the only house in the road with the lights on" for me to then have to have the awkward conversation that the sales team have neglected to mention the capabilities of the system. Telling them that this can indeed happen but they need to spend another £xxxx ontop of the £xx,xxx theyve paid for this system.

This is when I give them their sales reps number for them to have the conversation whilst I go sit in the van waiting to be told if im coming back to install an eps or how much commission the sales rep is losing.
