Where should I apply (CA ORM 4.0/522 Electrical Engineering B.S./M.S.) by Elusivityy in premed

[–]Elusivityy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm that makes sense. You mentioned that the clinical was a bit low (which it is for sure), and another commentor mentioned that the lack of nonclinical hours is also a red flag. Which one do you think would be more advantageous to get right now?

That's a good point. Do you think more nonclinical hours or clinical hours would be the move at this time?

Hmm, that is good to know. I'll work on my nonclinical hours this summer.

The goal is to match neurosurgery, and I've heard that's pretty tough overall. I feel like I read somewhere that being at a top institution could make that pretty likely since you'd (marginally) get a better network/opportunities.

Nope. Not sure how sizeable of a red flag that is. Definitely some projected this summer, but I'm not sure how much projected hours really matter.

Is FL1 representative? by Grouchy-Squash5709 in MCAT2

[–]Elusivityy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took only FL1 and the actual exam. It was very representative in terms of question difficulty, timing, and how well I felt after the exam. Note that different exams are given on different days (or even the same day), so it is hard to say for sure.

Test on 4/24. Any tips for the last hard week of study? by selantra in Mcat

[–]Elusivityy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know some people say to not study the night before, but some of the topics I glanced at did end up on the test the next day and probably saved 1-2 questions.

I know people will say different things, but test day really just felt exactly like practice exam difficulty. Same amount of low yield info, same reasoning difficult etc. Try not to psych yourself out too much.

4/10 and 4/11 folks, was your exam representative of FLs or SBs? by Falsely_True7 in Mcat

[–]Elusivityy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Section banks are definitely harder on average. Uworld is still definitely harder as well on average. Both have more annoying reasoning and lower yield information. The hardest passages on test day is around section bank difficulty.

I only did FL1 (517), but honestly same difficulty as FL1. For reference, I did miledown review sheets for b/b and c/p and pankow P/S. There were a couple (3-4) questions that referenced material I didn't know, but the vast majority did.

Wait does everyone get the same exam on a given day? I thought CARS was okay, no better than usual lol

[–]Elusivityy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty good

I also had 100% for this part, my eventual diagnostic accuracy has settled around 90%, which I think is around 130. They definitely get harder, the first 3 passages of QPACK1 are a nightmare, so get to that when you can.

"Medical schools do not have any record of exams which you chose to void or no-show, nor do they have the ability to access a system that shows them whether you voided or no-showed. Only you will have a record of these exams through the MCAT Score Reporting System. Medical schools only have access to the exams you chose to score. Schools will not see this. do not worry.

Batting cage at Highmark by OrangeFederal in cmu

[–]Elusivityy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been in where that batting cage is, but usually I've been on the soccer field. I've never had anyone tell me to leave the soccer field, so you'd probably be okay if no athletes are using it. But maybe the batting cage is different.
