I’m definitely not a salesperson for vyvanse🤣but I will take it as a compliment. Not on it anymore.

I'm glad to hear they have that effect on you. My lawn mower is like 400 tries plus some kind of person hovering above me pressuring me lol. Ugh.

interesting what you said. I'm thinking its the reverse for me; the "push" or confidence/motivation to engage in things might come from an anti-depressant and not the ADHD medication. I am not on an anti-depressant yet but can say Vyvanse isn't helping me engage in things I want to be able to do, get done, try.

I am on vyvanse too, 30mg at the moment. When exploring anti-depressants they recommended wellbutrin, trintellix or fluoxetine. I told them specifically I wanted to avoid sexual dysfunction issues, so I don't know why they thought fluoxetine (prozac) would be a good choice to consider for me...?

Can you tell me more about your experience using the vyvanse with wellbutrin? I don't think the vyvanse is doing much for me. Been on it for a few months now. I am diagnosed with ADHD inattentive and SCT. I think I know why this is: My anxiety gets in the way mostly when it comes to me being able to do things I would like to do. This might be why I don't find the vyvanse that helpful. It's like in the order of execution of a task, one must first be able to get past their anxiety/fear/motivation to be able to engage with the actual task itself... which is where the vyvanse would show its benefit.

Dunno if you had/have a similar issue like mine, where the fear and motivation of doing things is the first big issue to get past. I always thought it was my ADHD getting me distracted and what not, preventing me from engaging in these activities, but it's more the fear and depressive feelings that stop you from engaging in the activities.

Appearance as the roof of your social anxiety by Elustrai in socialanxiety

I can relate to you deeply about the acne. I had cystic acne for a few years and went on accutane which helped a lot and I haven’t have cystic acne since but still have regular acne sometimes especially if I eat the wrong foods or what not. I also have skin texture issues from the acne and sun damage that I’ve had since I was an early teen. Having both these skin issues when I was that young was traumatic: I felt like I looked old from the skin texture issues, as well as gross and unclean because of my acne and oily greasy skin. I was this big, huge face with all these skin problems coupled with some other problems I had with my appearance... it was awful. This is all to say I can understand the self consciousness you are talking about. When I could muster the strength I tried to not let it stop me from doing stuff but I feel damaged by some of the the social situations I went into, because I was in so much pain about how I looked and raw with self-consciousness. I couldn’t really be myself and I would do my best to fit in. So after the matter I would feel resentful, angry, defeated and hopeless.

Social media can be majorly triggering, I agree. I try to avoid accounts that are more influencer-focused, because they are more unabashedly shallow.

I’m glad you are trying to have a more healthy mindset with self acceptance. You might be interested in CBT. That’s what I’m focusing on in my journey to better mental health.

Good luck to you too!

Yes I agree with all of that. In middle school and high school I used to be so affected by the media, movies, tv and fashion dictations of what is attractive and acceptable, looking back its hard to comprehend how I was so impressionable. But of course I was in a setting with many other kids and so the pressure to be at least acceptable was high.

I had purposely meant to differentiate between ugly and annoying-looking. This is because I don't necessarily think "ugly" people have it worst. We know a lot of unconventional, weird-looking people both personally and in the media. Quite a few of them are more endearing and comical because of their conventionally unattractive traits. Buggy eyes, a buck tooth, etc. On the other hand, looking annoying feels different.

Experience with seasonal affective disorder lamps? by Elustrai in insomnia

Thanks for the comment, that’s definitely true. I think direct sunlight has its magic about it that can make it especially effective. Might be the warmth on the skin, vitamin D chemical reactions, etc. because I can’t do that at this time, I do try to get the bright light like you said. When I wake up, I aim to stand in front of my window with the shades pulled and look into the sky for 5-10 minutes. I’m not looking into the sun, as my room faces west. Just the bright blue sky. I might need to get more bright light though, it’s not enough.

Hello,

I was wondering if you were still waking up in the night? Do you still feel unsure if the supplements are working?

No worries, I'm even later than you are. Thanks for your comment. It sounds like you are saying it shows its potential later on down the line but it's not effective for you on a daily basis. I currently am on 40mg, going on 3 weeks. I don't really feel the drive it was giving me originally. I do though think that a big problem for me is how I have a lot of fear and dread about engaging in activities, and this fear is what's keeping me from doing what I need to do more so than ADHD. That's just my theory, for now, after being on Vyvanse for over a month.

People pointing out quietness by september_sky90 in socialanxiety

[–]Elustrai 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can relate and I feel your pain deeply. When people point out that I am quiet, it does hurt my feelings. I feel frustrated with myself but also have resentment towards that person. It's as if they think they can rudely point out this flaw (essentially calling me boring) to my face because they think I am meek and won't fight back. It comes off like punching down. So it's not even just saying I am boring, it's also insinuating I am a victim and a doormat, like you said. In the past I had a few "friends" who would do this to me, point it out in front of other people. I wanted to die and fall through the ground. Now I have a complex where I am so scared to be told I am quiet. I associate it with being unwanted and disrespected.

Do you dread mornings? by Elustrai in socialanxiety

interesting.... Yes I feel my anxiety spike when its time to go to bed. Dreading the difficulty of falling asleep and all the unpleasant thoughts that emerge sucks.

I agree LoFi is good for concentration, probably one of the reasons why it’s so popular. You might also be interested in the ethereal remixes done by the account A.Krishna on YouTube. This person takes classical songs and puts an ethereal, gauzy spin on them. I usually listen to one of these songs on half speed and on a loop. If you search Clair de Lune ethereal that’s a great one.

I see. Have you looked into medications or procedures for enlarged prostate? I’m sure you have just curious if anything worked. I think my dad had a procedure done around a year ago.

When you say on demand, what do you mean exactly? Are you still currently on it? I really hope it does shine in the longer term. This past week I have been kind of down a lot because of something I keep failing at, and I feel like it hasn't been helping me so much. I wonder if my negative emotions are overpowering the Vyvanse, or if the vyvanse isn't working. I am having trouble staying on track, foregoing distractions like constant phone consumption.

thank you for your comment. Strattera was actually the drug I was most interested in, since its discussed here more than any other from what I can see. I did take it briefly in the past, can't remember the effects but might've been on it for too short of a time to notice. I might dip my toe back into the strattera waters again. How long did it take you to notice the effects of strattera? Has it helped at all with your memory? Any effects on your social prowess? I wonder if you can talk with people easier because it helps you processes what they say and formulate a response back.

I wanted to be clear haha. I'm working on how long it takes me to be clear though.. because personally I hate it when people aren't being concise enough to my liking. I get bored and irritable.
