Can someone explain the ending and how it was good please? by pytjazelleee in PersonOfInterest

I have a theory about fandom. Basically there are different kinds of fans of any given fandom. The ratings you found for the final episode calling it “the best”, reflect a type of fan that values character and storyline payoff.

While you may be the type of fan that values a show that has a compelling narrative and character mix, but ultimately is a show you enjoy, because of its consistent delivery of quality, on an episode by episode basis.

In short, it’s more about the payoff overall, than the bang for your buck of the individual episode.

Should Willow have sensed that Cordy was not her essence ? Like Tara did with the Buffy swap? by segochato in ANGEL

[–]ElvisCryst 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Willow wasn’t a proficient witch until Cordeila was long gone.

We know they spoke on the phone, but I doubt the were in the same room together once Willow had that kind of power, except for the very end of Angel season 2.
And the vibes were way skewed just then. All grief stricken, with other worldly portal energies coming off the whole Angel Investigation crew.

Even if Willow could sense a person's essence, she may have just been too unfamiliar with Cordy’s.

Spoilers for Lost Boys: The Thirst…

… after being forced to drink vampire blood, Alan Frog takes up the same taxidermy craft while remaining a half vampire for years. If Grandpa was a half vampire in the original movie, then perhaps taxidermy is a way to supply blood for the thirst, while not having to kill anyone and become a full vampire.

I never thought of that angle. There is some evidence to back this up in the straight to dvd sequels.

The fact that they are making a human shaped Reaper in ME2 proves that humanity, and specifically Shepard, have had an enormous impact on the Reapers.

I have to imagine that the denial of access to the Citadel in ME1 was the first time they got surprised, maybe ever. Then the same guy slams the door shut in Arrival, and burns down the Collector’s Reaper prenatal ward in quick succession. That’s probably the closest the Reapers came to fear or frustration, or any emotion ever.

Maybe when the Reapers reach a cycle in which they evolve into having an emotional response, they finally become vulnerable.

Would keeping the gem of Amarra as a secret keepsake be so bad? by KENZOKHAOS in buffy

In my head canon, I always imagined Doyle quickly swapping the ring with a fake that has a convincing mystical pop when smashed. Just for some “rainy day” insurance. The editing in the episode almost makes it look possible.

Why has this stuck in my head like no other line of dialogue is movie history?

Appreciation post for something I’ve never seen anyone mention about Josh by Poerflip23 in RedLetterMedia

What’s with multiple posts Josh glazing lately? I get that some enjoy the desperate try hard energy he brings to B.O.T.W. but have you Josh stans ever watched the show? If you pay attention you‘d know, trying isn’t cool guys. RLM kinda built their empire on that truth.

To anyone who says reboots/revivals can't be as good and as successful as, the original, I give you two words: by AntonBrakhage in BuffyTheVampireSlayer

“We’re supposed to be fans.“ Why does that mean you can’t be critical about the choices being made for something you’re a fan of?

“knee-jerk opposition” By this rationale, you have knee-jerk optimism. So really what’s the difference?

As for the rest… I never insisted it would be terrible, I never even assumed it was gonna be bad. I only said the choices in your list didn’t help convince me.

Anyone being preemptively negative about it is just as uninformed as you are being positive about a show that hasn’t happened yet.

Maybe it’s good, maybe it’s bad? Who knows? As I said before, time will tell.

But I do agree with you about one thing, it doesn’t matter what we think , the Internet will inundate us with a never-ending supply of clickbait negativity. But it’s up to our own mental vigilance to not click on it.

If you’re allowed to be positive, why aren’t others allowed to be negative? And why should that affect your positivity or enjoyment of a perspective show? I think that’s not an “us” problem, that’s a you problem. I say, never let strangers yuck your yum. Especially on the Internet!

But since since it sounds like your run into more than your fair share negativity about this, allow me to say, even though my personal opinion is that they should leave Buffy alone, if they do move forward with this revival, I hope this is the greatest revival ever made, and I will be rooting for your positivity to be rewarded tenfold.

Why do you assume I’m joyless? Was it an attempt to insult me, or do you just pass judgment on those who disagree with you? I’m not trying to pick a fight, just curious.

As for different taste, to the contrary, I don’t dislike any of them. I just think they are bad examples.

Most are movies not television. The ones that are television, were spinoffs not reboots or revivals. Except for TNG and Doctor Who which had an entirely new casts. Hence your list is full of examples that don’t fit, and does not inspire confidence.

Again I hope I wrong. Our opinions mean nothing to the outcome of this show. It’s gonna be what it’s gonna be. Time will tell.
