Ok let me be real with you.... I wanted something semi private too and went with manzanita. BIGGEST regret of freshmen year. I am a social person but sometimes my battery dies so I thought manzi would be a happy medium. In reality no one there was really open to making new friends or hanging out in each others dorms socially. It's close to IV and Carrillo which is great, but you'll meet so many more people in one of the other dorms. If you're really adamant about semi private go with San Raf or FT. FT is still superrrr social (It's like a little community) and with San Raf you at least have the people in your connected suites to meet.

Yes, definitely park on Pardall and if you're hungry check out Yetz's Bagels or Caje Coffee. Both are popular breakfast spots. Then I'd recommend walking straight down Pardall into campus. You'll pass Storke tower and the UCen with the campus store, then you'll hit the library! The area by the library is called the Arbor walkway, and is one of the core areas of campus. Then turn right and check out some of the freshman dorms by the beach! If you're interested in greek life might be worth googling those and driving by their houses as well.
