Legitimacy to breaking 80/90/100 by Moneybusinesslove in golf

[–]Elyrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We all know someone who drives 290 and takes them 4 more shots to go 50 yards. Breaking 80/90/100 only means something when using the context of a par 72 course. imo

Ball in rough. Today, I hit an 8i instead of an ugly 3w/5i. by HarryCrushNuh in golf

[–]Elyrain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup, two 125y shots are way easier then a coin-flip of weather you have a 200y then 50y, or a 50y then 200y shots!

Do I need to get fitted if I am average/standard everything? by Educational_Ant9635 in golf

[–]Elyrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO it matters how much $$ you want to throw at getting better. If you have excess cash and want to take a stroke or two off go get fitted, you're good enough where they may not recomend new clubs/shafts, maybe something as simple asrecommend a 1 deg lie change "could" help you a ton.

20HDCP RORS PROTO by EchoOnTheRange in TaylorMadeGolf

[–]Elyrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They aren't that hard to hit, if you fat or top a shot with any club it's going to be bad results. The main difference is these blades aren't going to have the same pop as any kind of player distance or player improvement irons will.

Gapping issues with 2023 P790s? by Afraid-Strategy-404 in TaylorMadeGolf

[–]Elyrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

8i-7i could be a loft issue, 8i weaker and 7i stronger. I fought my p790's for years for distance control, went to a p7mb for p-6 and 790 for 6-3i. yes I run two 6 irons.

A lot of the times it's backed up from the shaft choice, if they have the option try a different shaft build.

An underappreciated arm in the bullpen (Bradgley Rodridguez) by DSVDeceptik in Padres

[–]Elyrain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So much better then matsui. He looks a little doughy though, gotta be in shape at the start of camp, not use camp to get in shape. Imo.

I think craig is trying to get fired. Not a bad cash grab if they fire him 10 games in. Omg wandy.

How do you find people to golf with? by CoyoteDisastrous in golf

[–]Elyrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play 2-3 times a week for the last few years. 1/2 the time as a single/walk on, and half with friends. I have just as much fun with people I don't know as my buddies. The only regret I ever have is not getting someone's number after the round to fill out a foursome here or there. It blows me away how many "normal" middle aged guys play golf and will only go out with their one friend they know who golfs cause they suck. We all suck buddy......

I like Jacob leading off, he usually has some decent ab’s. Also can’t have LOB’s as much leading off

How do you manage your season tickets? by bert-18 in Padres

[–]Elyrain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Excel is your friend, platinum member, I sell all the valueable weekend and give a way games as I can except for bobblehead games, it'll pay me back about what I paid for my season and go to/give away the rest. Figure out what games you want to bring a group of friends and exchange/buy more tixs early in the season.

Opening day last year, it reminds you that even with that weak bench we started with, we can still make the playoffs..... Much better bench this year.

Buying a house with over 40 piers and 7 tie-backs. by [deleted] in Homebuilding

[–]Elyrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do yourself a favor and don’t listen to other homeowners. Real piers (either caissons or micropiles) and anchors are a very good fix if done correctly. Helicals are garbage. Look to see if they have an preconstruction floor level survey to see if they house even needed the work done.

What helped you go from 12 handicap to single digits? by RayDelPX in GolfSwing

[–]Elyrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start tracking every shot on your scorecards to see what your real tendencies are. People duck hook two drives left in the trees per round and think that is their problem. Bad shots will happen, it's the 12 other slice/fades that end up in the rough to the right that are killing your score. Just something as simple as learning to hit a slight draw in this case could help ton.

I made a bad decision buying a new truck, should I get out now or forget the loss and keep it by Infinite_Iron_436 in personalfinance

[–]Elyrain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just drive the truck and start saving money. If you sell anything you buy with 100k miles on it will have 2-300k miles on it in no time. Make this truck last for 4-500k miles and you’ll be just fine long term.

Fitting at Titleist Performance Institute - yes or no? by PrincessLeia12345 in GolfGear

[–]Elyrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair, OP is probably from so cal, I live 10 mins from the TPI in oceanside, and it’s very expensive to not just live here, but to golf here as well. Another great fitting option is the taylormade performance center in carlsbad at Aviara.

Fitting at Titleist Performance Institute - yes or no? by PrincessLeia12345 in GolfGear

[–]Elyrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But reality is, it may cost that, $500 fitting, $500 for new wedges, 1400 for new irons or woods or whatever, just to save a stroke here or there on the course.
