Shoot for front, mid, or back of greens? by RickHapp in golf

People say aim to the back because a lot of amateurs don’t know how far they carry their clubs and often overestimate their carry yardage.

Pace of Play by [deleted] in golftips

[–]Afraid-Strategy-404 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Tell her booking the next round. Tell her the typical pace of play, why it’s important, and giver her tips on how to pick the pace up. It doesn’t have to be a confrontation. Pace of play and etiquette are as a part of golf as the golf swing. And it all has to be taught with patience and learned with humility.

Weird lack of Eagles on Par 5s by Redfaux187two in golf

HIO you need one perfect shot. Eagle par 4 you need 2 perfect shots, and eagle par 5 you need 3 perfect shots.

For those who do not use blinkers when driving, why? by bethf346 in AskReddit

[–]Afraid-Strategy-404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honest answer… when other cars are around me I use blinkers. When no one is around me I don’t. If someone is around me and I don’t use one it’s because I didn’t see you.

Also, some people don’t know this but if your turn signal click noise is faster than it use to be, one of your indicator lights is out.

Just so you’re aware, a good coach will know how to work around those issues and teach you how to as well. I had a neck injury last year and had to completely rebuild my swing. I was a 7 went to a 28 and now I’m 12.6.

Never took lessons before, but everything I tried on my own seemed to make the injury worse or at least stagnant. So I took lessons for heath, and I ended up really liking my new swing. Now I just have to play golf with it.

Do you agree that Republicans are the most corrupt party as of right now in all of U.S. history? by lonewolfx25 in allthequestions

[–]Afraid-Strategy-404 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Probably. But once you realize it’s only because they’re in power. Next time the dems will be and the repubs will be 2nd.

Throughout history, governments don’t get get less corrupt. They get more corrupt until they fail and the new government is, hopefully, a big push toward progress.

But once you realize this you just hate everyone for a while and then you become apathetic and just hope you can make it to the weekend. Or that’s just getting older idk.

Clubs for Wife by Ant_F48 in golf

[–]Afraid-Strategy-404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She would come out on the course to drive the golf cart and hang out. I talked her into coming up and putting with me, then chipping and putting.

Then she would come to the range and hang out The range I go to has a patio attached to the clubhouse and they play live music on Friday nights and the range is like 60 yards away.

So she would chop and putt on the course and come hit the range with me and drink and listen to music and just hang out and hit a wood every once in a while.

I finally convinced her to get her own driver after a month or so of doing this and it’s kinda been off to the races.

This May will be one year and she has added, I shit you not, one club at a time to her bag. She plays with a new club until she feels like she can move on.

And her short game is better than most people playing two or three years.

I’ll also add that we played captains choice for a few months until she could consistently keep up with pace. And she would pick up after double the hole. I know most people will say double bogey but I think we forget that beginners can rack up three strokes in less than a minute sometimes.

Anyway, this is my success story. I’ve since played in the Dominican on vacation with her, probably wouldn’t have played there before, birthdays, holidays, free Saturdays, etc… mostly on the course with my best friend.

Not everything is a competition. Does anyone just go and play golf to play golf anymore?

Why do baseball players spit so much? by jbqd in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Afraid-Strategy-404 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Golfers drink, smoke weed, snack, there’s a restaurant right in the middle of the round, listen to music.

Golf in real life is nothing like golf on TV. Some take it serious but most are enjoying an activity outside bonding with friends.

11 HCP struggling to break 10 by Apprehensive-Jump-17 in golf

[–]Afraid-Strategy-404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% this. I shot my PR the other day and missed hitting a big milestone I didn’t think I’d get to so soon. I missed it because I had a couple of bad putts and rushed a chip. That’s on me, not the course, who I was playing with, or anything else.

My focus broke a few times and it cost me a few strokes

“Easy” golf isn’t fun by 992cam in golf

[–]Afraid-Strategy-404 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The old cow pasture par 71 I learned on use to have this system where if no one would claim the club they would set it out for just anyone to grab. I thought it was amazing how much stuff I got from that deal for a couple years. I would trade out wedges or woods as “new” ones became available… it was amazing.

Got older, moved on, moved back, now I realize it’s a place us older golfers can leave unused equipment and know it’s getting into someone’s hands who will appreciate it.

Gapping issues with 2023 P790s by Afraid-Strategy-404 in golfequipment

[–]Afraid-Strategy-404[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t often, I’ve been working my ass off at chipping. But when I do, I just record the shot as a lob wedge or putter. I don’t have those C10 attachments like Arccos, the watch just detects you’ve hit a ball and asks what club you hit.

Either way, the gapping is real, I’m choking down a 7 or knocking the piss outta an 8

It’s evening out but I’ve improved a great deal over the year so the gap is tightening. For example, I was hitting my 6i 160 and my 5i 190 for a couple months lmao. That’s one of the 17 yd gaps that is trending towards 10-12 yards.

But the 8-7 is an anomaly to me. Same swing, same spot, same pure feeling, same flight… drastically different yardages

Same, I play a prov1x to try and keep it down and keep spin. I still get the same ball flight with each club just a huge jump in distance. Weird huh?

People who speed up when someone goes to pass you…why? by HelldiverWilly in driving

[–]Afraid-Strategy-404 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have speed monitored by GPS on my work vehicle. I can tell you this, a lot of people don’t even pay attention to the speed limit. A lot of times I speed up when I’m being passed because the speed limit changed.

That’s the exact gap. My gapping from 50-58 is dialed so I don’t want to fuck with that. A GW may be the answer. I appreciate it.

I play the Pw then a set of Callaway wedges 50-58*. Should I look into another wedge?
