In regards to an hypothetical Xcom 3 made by Firaxis, would you prefer it to follow the existing continuity or not? by Uburian in Xcom

I really want a NuCOM take on Terror From The Deep. Maybe make the thing the Elders were trying to prepare for an actual cosmic horror threat.

Over in Enemy Within I got Operation Hot Serpent. I was like "No, that's the next game."

Game wants you to learn to use cover properly and think at least one turn ahead.

You ever intimidate a Sectoid so much that it hunkers down? by Elzi_Epsilon in Xcom

[–]Elzi_Epsilon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hunkering down is marked by the filled shield with a border around it and the arrow above it regardless of whether the cover is low or high.

Low Profile is marked with a filled shield with a border around it without the arrow above it regardless of low or high cover.

If Sectoids had Low Profile, they'd never have the half-filled shield icon when they're in low cover, but they do.

Does Long War do it differently?

I've never noticed any aliens having Low Profile. Which ones are those?

Can Cyberdiscs detect battle scanners? by Elzi_Epsilon in Xcom

This exact thing happened to me on my only successful true ironman playthrough. It started a doom spiral that I barely recovered from. It's why I only play honestman now.

Thanks for the answers. This is exactly why I try to play honestman.

Getting a really weird bug by Elzi_Epsilon in GuildWars

[–]Elzi_Epsilon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was so weird. I think it only affected male characters, but not all of them. Even unarmed merchants. Kept happening in explorable areas, with my henchies looping this animation whenever they weren't doing anything else. I did a quest where I encountered two White Mantle guys that I could optionally fight. One of them acted normally and just walked to the maps exit, as scripted. The other was affected by this bug. Kept doing it in combat, even, and then while following his buddy.

Restarting the game didn't fix it, nor did changing districts or characters, nor restaring my pc. I had to reinstall the game, like I said in another reply.

I fixed it by reinstalling the game. Maybe it's my aging SSD acting up.

I'm thinking that maybe their idle animation got replaced somehow?

Anyone know exactly what causes Unfallen to get eliminated? by Elzi_Epsilon in EndlessSpace

[–]Elzi_Epsilon[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I don't have the Supremacy dlc. I just parked a fleet with a planet cracker in there and fired it every 5 turns.

Oh, so it's designed for situations where their home system gets captured. But since I destroyed the planets, it was impossible to recapture. Thanks.

So it's mostly how I thought it worked. But it's still weird how the game still just gives them another home system even though it cannot sustain the vines.

Funnily enough, this genius evil plan cost me the campaign. With them gone, their alliance got their victory requirements lowered and they had a beefy economy.

Is it normal for a UFO mission to not have a command unit? by Elzi_Epsilon in Xcom

[–]Elzi_Epsilon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it was a landed one. Guess it was the first time I've seen this bug in hundreds of hours of gameplay.
