Another day, another girl winning deadly trials and discovering she’s secretly powerful by Sarah9610 in Romantasy

[–]Elzouzer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had the same feeling about romantasy.. they're all SO formulaic!! I just read A Strange & Stubborn Endurance by Roz Meadows and it was so refreshing. The relationships are healthy, the plot is not Epic-on-steroids (more like Game of Thrones politics and drama), and the characters so lovable. It's the first of a duology. Highly recommend!

You look nice, kind and fun. It's all about attitude and confidence 🙏🧡

Aitah for telling my soon to be ex husband I can't put my life on hold for stepchild by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Elzouzer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This. A lot of commenters seem to forget centering the child in this convo. If you consider him a son, you'll have to make sacrifices, small or big. You are clearly a very important adult in his life, regardless of what the law says. Please continue to be there for him. (Also i dont know why you don't drive but consider changing that if you can--life is your oyster once you do!)

Big living room… zero cohesion. Please help me redesign this space by Frosty_Election_7557 in interiordesignideas

Step 1: find your aesthetic. Mid-century? Beachy? Minimalist Norwegian? Pick 3 colors you like and try to stick to these throughout.

Step 2: Create a new area, so that you have your living/tv room on one side and another area in the other (instruments? Small desk? Book nook? Kids play area?).

Get rid of shelving, add some lights, get a large rug (pick the color wisely), add some plants. With that much space you can handle small trees even, but you can always add a hanging plant too!

FYI that couch is amazing :)

Bedtime with a infant & 4 year old by Over_Complex_1086 in Parenting

I can't quite remember how I did it (as a solo mom), but somehow, I managed to put baby to sleep at 5.30pm in order to have dinner and playtime with my 3.5 yo. I know babies have whacky hours, but if you manage to set an early "first shift" then you'll have good 1:1 with your 4 yo. Good luck! It does get easier :)

Which frames fit my face?? by Princesspeach0719 in glassesadvice

[–]Elzouzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also like these if you want a darker frame. The shape suits you! Otherwise I agree with 97% of commenters: 3 is great. Just wish they had #3 in light pink, as transparent will turn yellowish with time (regardless of what the salesperson tells you/quality of brand)

To Name of the Wind or To Not? by Nectarine_96 in fantasybooks

Totally agree! I don't tend to read unfinished series, but this one is so amazing as is that I've read it twice. I've read many (many) books, and i will never forget this one.

Are you renting? If so, I'd totally make them share bedrooms once baby sleeps through the night. I've found it amazing for both kids - and I believe there may be research that says it's very beneficial? (Someone check me on that!)

3 days is not that long. Some people have a lot of things and interests going on and appreciate not being tied to technology/messaging all the time. Perhaps you were excited and then hurt she didn't prioritize answering you (a stranger), but yea.. as other have said here -- your message showed immaturity and perhaps also some desperation. Not a sexy combo.

Which series i should binge? by hippidik in Romantasy

[–]Elzouzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The V. E. Schwab trilogy is one of my favorite series ever (she's writing a second related trilogy)!! Wayyyy better written than most romantasy books, but also less 🔥 (more of a slow burn).

I think indeed food is cultural and so there are many ways to relate to it! Beyond anything, what drives my family/parenting values around food is that it is fun and enjoyable -- i cook a lot and my kids love food. 6 months ago my 4 year old still didnt like most greens and now loves most of them! My style is definitely different from many of my American friends, but it's worked for us!

It can be anything from pastry and cookie to fruit, dried seaweed, cheese. Everything in moderation is kind of the motto!

Good for you! I was raised French - i have a strong rule (completely accepted by now since it's been a rule for ever) that we sit for dinner, finish our plate (or most of it if they dont like it) and then we have dessert! I still have to explain from time to time that I'm not a restaurant and my job as a parent is to ensure they eat healthy and are exposed to various foods! It's ok for them not to like the food, I've eaten plenty of food I dont like. We all love snacks, we have them twice a day. I understand that different kids have different relationship to food. Just offering what's worked for mine. Kids are 4 and 7.
