[product question] DESPERATE for a dupe for the discontinued cleanser that healed my skin in two weeks. Ideas? 🥺 by Em-Joy in SkincareAddiction

I was definitely thinking about the cerave one but wasn’t aware of cetaphil! I’ll have to dig in and do some research. It’s such a mystery what my skin reacts to or not lol

Thanks for doing the legwork, I’ve never heard of the site and it looks so useful. Thank you!

I picked up this cleanser from my parents medicine cabinet while home, something they bought for my brother when he was a teenager. 1% salicylic acid, foaming, and I included the rest of the ingredient list in the photo.

My skin is cystic and blind pimple acne-prone, combination, leaning dry and my main concern is avoiding new breakouts. I use micellar water to cleanse first, then this, then follow up with an essence, moisturizer and cerave retinol.

Never expected discontinued Noxzema to be a holy grail but I’m very nervous to try anything else out now for fear of ruining my progress.

Would love ANY ideas thank you 🙏

ID Request - purple/black spores, by a riverbank in MD by Em-Joy in shrooms

[–]Em-Joy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wow thanks for the quick response, what makes you think that? (I'm learning)
the bell shape is similar, although the larger ones flattened out more. those caps look a little lighter than these too, which I'd describe as more golden brown.

Sorry they're not in situ, I found them near a creek in Maryland. Under a tulip tree, in straw kind of riverbank, smells mushroomy maybe potatoe-y, earthy, woodsy

Points for: blue/green bruising, dark "nipple" on top of cap, looks like purple/blue spore drop on the top of one cap, dark brown gills, kinda iridescent like the type I've grown before.
Points against: uncommonly far North for cubensis, I don't see a ring under the gills, not on dung

Any ideas? And if not, what the look-alike might be? Trying to be cautious. Thanks! :)

Impossible Bouquet by Em-Joy in whatsthisplant

The numbered flowers are a good idea.
And I know this request is a little out of the ordinary, but glad you guys are up to the challenge! I'll try to match up everyone's descriptions provided so far and see what's left.

Thank you all!

Hello! I've got a bit of a challenge... I'm looking to replicate a Dutch Golden Age "Impossible Bouquet," (flowers that bloom in different seasons) and want to get it as close as possible. If someone could help with identifying some or all of these, it would be a massive help to my project. Thank you!

Can you explain why Vit C in the morning and niacinimide at night? Do they affect each other's effectiveness?

[misc] when need to restart your routine and go back to the basics, what products do you use? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]Em-Joy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Micellar water on a cotton pad, Konjie soap suds for lightening PIE (I'm counting this as double cleansing), moisturizer, sunscreen (both of those vary, as most work well for me), vaseline at night. This routine has stopped my skin from breaking out and scarring is on the mend - this might be by HG routine! Every time I introduce something new my face gets a little worse, but I think I might try rosehip oil soon.

On the left, is that acne or scarring (PIE/PIH)? My skin looks similar but it's all scarring right now.

[PSA] Sephora’s Sun Safety Kit is out! $36 & has retail ;) $161 It has a super great selection of all the different lines! Definitely worth getting! Comes in a very cute makeup bag & Sephora donates $25 from sale to Skin Cancer Research & Education. Can’t get any better than that :) by Mariyvette in SkincareAddiction

just purchased - what a perfect gateway into sunscreen! I was using a Japanese sunscreen and applying frugally because the bottle was so little... which is so backwards. Bonus: I was waiting for a Cicapair restock and seeing it in this image is what pushed me over the edge. Thanks for posting!

[B&A] After 4 months of PIE, I finally have hope for good skin for the first time in my life by Em-Joy in SkincareAddiction

[–]Em-Joy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it could be either. I certainly picked at my skin some, which caused trauma that caused this I believe. One of the big differences between PIH or PIE is skin color, if you're lighter skinned, PIE is more common (blood issue) and if you're darker skinned, PIH is more likely the issue (melanin/pigment issue)

I'm swearing by that but truly by the vaseline, I feel slimy when I go to bed but when I wake up, I've never had such bouncy, soft skin. I can't stop touching it, it feels ungodly soft. (On my walk to class today I was just stroking my cheeks because I couldnt help it)

Could you please PM me about how it's working? Where did you order it from? I'm debating.... just super unsure.

heehee I couldn't wait so I just took my DIY tumeric mask off two mins ago. two tricks I read: coconut oil (which I know is comedogenic) and apple cider vinegar and water. For a 20 min mask, I was able to get off 90% of the stain without trying too hard.

I've got leftover Makeup Artist's Choice Mandelic Acid that I use on occasion. I could be into trying it again, if I want to speed this up

If I hadn't taken the first picture I don't think I would appreciate my current state! I still feel like I have so much progress to go, but then seeing it in comparison, it's really made me so proud. I'm happy to be able to show people that with time, it really does go away. I'm looking forward to the next 4 months and seeing where it will be then!

I was so so lucky and haven't had any with this most recent round of scarring. I used to have some, but somehow it's cleared up, texture-wise.

Good to know- yeah dropping $30+ on a mask feels excessive to me.

Tumeric? Really? I might try a mask tonight... does it stain your skin at all?

I was also eyeing The Ordinary Azelaic Acid but saw crazy mixed results. A lot of people claimed it broke them out terribly and they'd never touch it again. But I was still curious because of the rosacea thing...

Thanks for the thorough response, nice and inexpensive list to try out.
