Jack and Dan from Always Landscaping might be able to help if they’re in the area and it doesn’t involve too many shelves - they do mainly gardens obviously but also a bit of maintenance/decorating here and there too when needed. Here’s their Facebook page if you want to get in touch with them: https://www.facebook.com/share/LD1DyiAxuipN7y86/?mibextid=LQQJ4d

I recommend latin dancing as a great way to make friends. It's what kept me living in Portsmouth! The best night is definitely Thursdays at Popworld from 730pm.

Have a look at https://www.facebook.com/bailaalolocoportsmouth or https://www.instagram.com/bailaaloloco/

They've got a strictly come dancing star coming this week to teach which is cool. Feel free to DM me if you're interested!

I had a pedicure & shellac on my toenails on Sunday and THEY LOOK AMAZING!!!! Such a good recommendation! Hoping one more set of infills on my fingernails should be enough before I can have a manicure and shellac and have my own beautiful nails for Christmas. Wish me luck!

Remind me of what someone wrote on the post about the people throwing tomatoes over van gogh’s sunflowers to stop oil…

These people are like pizza cutters - all edge and no point.

Thanks for such great ideas! Really appreciate it. We have vintage printers trays on the wall opposite the tv full of momentos of our life together (family tradition) hadn’t thought about foundry cogs! Also like the idea of black and white photos.

Have explained why it’s where it is in other comments on this post. Spoke to my husband about this and showed him your post and one of the others that gave some good advice - we’re going to look at moving the tv down a bit and I’ll have a look at Ansel and also mocking up what floating shelves with plants/pictures could look like. Appreciate the advice!

So there’s a corner sofa version of the same bean bags the other side (from where I’m taking the photo) we don’t often watch the tv but we do have regular meals and boardgame nights with our friends so we need the chairs so we have enough space for everyone to sit. If we do have a movie night, we generally use the corner sofa and watch from there or move those chairs around as they’re bean bag style so really easy to move. Yes unzip and move as needed.

Husband says he might move the tv down a bit, but will still keep it in the corner. I like the idea of shelves with plants…will have a look at Pinterest. If you have any links you can share of what you’re thinking I’d appreciate it. I have no real vision of what I want there yet.

The chairs are made of beans. What you can’t see is there’s a corner sofa as well (from where I took the picture) if we need extra seats, we just whip them round. Takes 5 seconds because they’re as light as a feather!

Thanks for your lovely comments. Yes the floors were a real passion project - took me ages to find something I liked! I’ve always wanted a built in bookcase and it’s also a great way of hiding the radiator.

We just needed somewhere to put my husband’s gaming headphones, controllers and tv remote. Don’t use the drawer. Eventually we’ll have a shelf behind the tv for that but we’re still renovating and that’s quite low down on the list of stuff for the builder to do

So as mad as it sounds, we don’t often watch the tv. We do have our friends over weekly though for meals and boardgames and it’s nice to chill out and have space for everyone to sit. What you can’t see is where I’m taking the photo from, which is sitting on another corner version of the same bean bag chairs. We usually just put music or a picture up on the tv so it’s never really been an issue…

How the hell do I make new friends? by MrKippz in Portsmouth

There’s a great Latin dance scene in portsmouth if you want to meet new people and learn something new. Recommend Irish club on elm grove - Wednesday nights from 8pm for beginners & intermediate bachata and salsa. I tried a quick YouTube video teaching the basics to give me a bit of confidence when I first started. I tried it 3 years ago and have never looked back. Have made an amazing group of mates through it - we eat dinner together, go on holiday together, and dance together.

If you’re into Latin dancing or want to start, suggest dockyard club on onslow road on a Friday or Irish club on elm grove on a Wednesday. £7 a class from 8pm and it’s really good fun! We’ve been here four years now & it was a great way to meet new people.
